Mobile data is a really useful way to stay online while out and about. However, if you’ve got a limited amount of data left on your contract, you’ll probably want to be careful with it. Turning off your mobile data will stop apps from using your data in the background, saving it for when you really need to be online. This guide will cover how to disable your mobile data.
There are two ways to turn off your mobile data. The first method is through the Control Centre. To open Control Centre, swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone if you’ve got an iPhone 8 or older. If you’ve got an iPhone X or newer you can access Control Centre by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen.
In the Control Centre you can disable mobile data by tapping the green antenna icon, so it is greyed out. This will instantly disable your mobile data connection. You can reconnect anytime by tapping the same icon again.

Alternatively, you can open the Settings app and click on “Mobile Data” near the top of the page. In the Mobile Data settings, the first option is a slider that can be used to disable or enable your mobile data connection. Just toggle this “Mobile Data” slider to the off position and your mobile data connection will be disabled.
