Installing Nord VPN on Amazon Fire Devices

Installing Nord VPN on Amazon Fire Devices

Posted on June 10, 2020 by Mel Hawthorne Leave a Comment

If you’ve got an Amazon Fire TV or a Fire Stick and want to use a VPN with it, one of your best choices is NordVPN. NordVPN has more than five thousand high-speed servers based in 59 countries around the world that all support streaming. It also has an app available in the Amazon Fire App Store which means you don’t have to mess around with complicated configuration files, just an easy-to-use app.

Note: The first-generation Amazon Fire Stick doesn’t support VPN connections.

The first recommended step is to purchase a subscription from NordVPN’s website, prices start from $3.49 a month (payable upfront) for a three-year plan. This will save you from having to create an account and subscribe later when you sign in.

To install the NordVPN app, open the App Store on your Amazon Fire Device and search for “NordVPN”. Once you’ve found it select “Get” and then “Download” to start installing it. Once the installation has finished select “Open” to launch the app or launch it from the installed apps list.

The first screen you’ll see in the NordVPN app will be the login screen, here you can sign in with the account that you created earlier. Once you’re signed in you may be asked if you want to enable “CyberSec”, it’s a NordVPN security feature that blocks malicious content.

To connect to the VPN, click “Quick connect” to allow NordVPN select the fastest server or search the server list to find the country that you want to appear in.

Tip: You don’t need to use any of the P2P, Obfuscated, Dedicated IP, Double VPN, or Onion over VPN specialty servers to simply browse or stream.

When you first connect to the VPN you may see a number of Android warning messages appear, these are standard warning messages for a new VPN connection being added. You can click “OK” on all of them and agree to any checkboxes that appear.

Once you’re connected to the VPN, you’re good to go, you can use your Amazon Fire device as much as you want, and your ISP won’t be able to tell what you’re doing. You can switch VPN servers or countries at any time by selecting a new VPN server from the list and connecting, just allow a few seconds for NordVPN to confirm that you’ve connected successfully.
