Google Live Transcribe is a valuable tool for people that that are hard of hearing or deaf. Thanks to this app, you can identify the noises around you and be warned about them with text on your phone’s display.
The app will even use your phone’s flashlight to let you know that someone is knocking, for example. There’s even a history you can check out to see if you missed and the time it occurred. The app even lets you customize how you want to be alerted of any noises. When asked if you want to add it to your app list for easy access, choose to Add to app list.
What Does Google Live Transcribe Do?
For Google Live Transcribe to work, it’ll always need access to an Internet connection. Make sure you place your phone in an area where it can easily pick up on what you want it to detect. Remove anything that could block your phone’s mic.
If someone is knocking, but you missed the app’s initial alert, you’ll know someone’s still knocking because the app will indicate that it hear noises at the top right. If it hears everyday noises such as machinery or coughing, it’ll say exactly that at the bottom of your display.
How to Customize the Google Live Transcribe App
To make changes to the app, tap on the cogwheel at the bottom left, and you’ll be able to do things such as:
- Change text size
- Save transcription – When you enable this feature, the transcription that the app saves are saved
In the More Settings option, you can make changes such as:
- Add primary language
- Enable dark theme
- Add secondary language
- Custom words
- Delete history
- Vibrate when a name is mentioned
- Vibrate when speech resumes after a pause
- Show sound labels
- Hide pronity
- Show hold button
If you’re not sure if you missed a noise, the app will also leave a notification. By swiping down from the top of your display, you can see how many times the app heard that sound. The text will be divided into sections according to the time they were recorded. To go to the next page, simply tap on the blue circle button with an arrow pointing down.
If you want to copy the text,long-press and choose to select all, followed by Copy. Google Live Transcribe also has an option where you can use the built-in keyboard to answer someone. You can do this by tapping on the keyboard icon at the bottom left.
