How To Turn Off Galaxy Tab S8

How To Turn Off Galaxy Tab S8

March 10, 2022 by Andrew Myrick 1 Comment

For as wonderful and powerful as the Galaxy Tab S8 is, there are times when you might want to restart or turn it off. Whether it’s because an app is wreaking havoc, or the software is a bit jittery, the steps for if you want to turn off Galaxy Tab S8 couldn’t be easier. And today, we’re taking you through the different steps you have to take if you need to go down that route.

Turn off Galaxy Tab S8 from Quick Settings

When it comes to turning off Galaxy Tab S8, the easiest way to do so is from the Quick Settings panel. No special configurations need to be done, as this method works right out of the box.

  1. Unlock your Galaxy Tab S8 and go to the Home Screen.
  2. Swipe down on the Home Screen to reveal the Notification Shade.
  3. Swipe down again to reveal the Quick Settings panel.
  4. Tap the Power Button in the top right corner.
  5. Tap either Power Off or Restart.

There’s also an easier method available for those who are using the Galaxy Tab S8 in DeX Mode. Provided that your tablet is unlocked and on the Home Screen, here’s how you can turn off Galaxy Tab S8:

  1. In the Dock, tap the Battery Percentage / Network Connection.
  2. At the top of the Quick Settings menu, tap the Power icon.
  3. Tap either Power Off or Restart.

From there, your Galaxy Tab S8 will be turned off or restart, and you don’t even have to press any buttons to do it!

Re-enable The Power Menu

As we mentioned with the Galaxy S22, Samsung continues to try and force Galaxy owners of Galaxy devices into using Bixby. This is not the greatest experience, as Google Assistant is a much better option. And by default, the “power” button is actually called the “side” button because it is configured to activate Bixby when you press and hold it.

Thankfully, you can bring back the “classic” Power Menu on your Galaxy Tab S8, and here’s how you can do so:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Galaxy Tab S8.
  2. Scroll down and tap Advanced features.
  3. Tap Side key.
  4. Under Press and hold, tap Power off menu.
  5. Exit the Settings app.
  6. Press and hold the Side button until the Power Off menu appears.
  7. Tap either Power Off or Restart.

As a reminder, if you bring back the Power Menu, Bixby will no longer be accessible from here. Instead, you will need to either open the Bixby app manually or say “Hey Bixby” after it has been set up. Finally, if you decide that you want to keep Bixby around instead of using Google Assistant, you can ask Bixby to do the work for you. Just activate Bixby by pressing and holding on the Side button, and then say Turn off my tablet.
