To schedule a Zoom meeting, you always have the option of using the app or the desktop client. But, if your computer is slow, the last thing you may want to do is open the desktop client.
The good news is that you can use a Chrome extension that allows you to start a Zoom meeting right from your browser. You’ll need to sign in to your account, but other than that, that’s all you need to do.
Schedule a Zoom Meeting Using a Chrome Extension
The Chrome extension you’re going to need to add to your toolbar is called Zoom Scheduler. If you’re not very tech-savvy, you’re going to like how simple the extension is. It won’t bombard you with so many features that you don’t know where to start.
Once the extension is installed, you’ll need to sign in to your Zoom account. To start your Zoom meeting, click on the blue Schedule Meeting button.
When you click on the button, the extension will take you to Google Calendar to save your meeting. Near the top, you’ll see two sets of dates to specify from what dates you want the Zoom meeting for. By default, the Zoom meeting will be scheduled for that day at the time you set.
If the Zoom meeting is for one day, make sure that both dates are set to that date. Scroll down a tad, and you’ll see all the information on your Zoom meeting, including the link to share with others. When you click on the Start Meeting button, you’ll have the choice of starting the meeting with or without the camera on.
To the right, you’re going to see the option to add guests to your Zoom meeting. You’ll see a message asking you if you want to send the contacts you added their invitations. Type their email address and click on the contact when it appears. When you’re adding contacts, click on the Save button.
Schedule a Zoom Meeting from Google Calendar
Suppose you’re already using Google Calendar for something else and remember you need to schedule that Zoom meeting. In that case, you can do so by creating an event. Once you fill out all the necessary information on your event, you’ll see a blue Make it a Zoom Meeting near the bottom. Click on that button to schedule your Zoom meeting.
Once you click on the Make it a Zoom Meeting button, the meeting codes, including the link, will be generated and visible near the bottom. You won’t need to do anything since the event will be saved automatically.
If you click on the cogwheel, you can customize the meeting after you click on the icon in the toolbar. You can choose from options such as:
- Meeting ID – Generate automatically or use Personal Meeting ID
- Security – Passcode. Waiting Room
- Video – On or off for host and participant
- Audio – Telephone, Computer Audio, Telephone and computer audio, or 3rd Party Audio.
- Encryption – Enhanced encryption or End-to-end encryption
- Options – Require registration, Allow participants to join anytime. Mute participants upon entry, Automatically record meetings, and Include Invite Link in Location field.
- Option to add alternative hosts
When you have more options when it comes to scheduling your Zoom meetings, the better it is. Regardless of where you may be, knowing you can schedule a Zoom meeting from there makes you even more productive. From what source do you schedule your Zoom meetings?
