How to Remove Google Meet From Gmail Sidebar

How to Remove Google Meet From Gmail Sidebar

Posted on July 13, 2020 by Judy Sanhz Leave a Comment

When you find ads too annoying, you may use an ad-blocker. But what about when Google adds an option to a service you know you’re not going to use?

In the Gmail sidebar, Google has added an option so you can join or start a Google Meet meeting. But, this option only clutters up your sidebar if you have no intention of using it. Let’s see how you can get rid of it.

How to Erase the Google Meet Option from the Gmail Sidebar

To get rid of the Google Meet option from the Gmail sidebar, sign in to your Gmail account. Click on the cogwheel and click on See all settings.

Go to the Chat and Meet tab, and on the left, you’ll see the option to select Hide the Meet section in the main menu. Don’t forget to click on Save Changes.

After saving your changes, Gmail will restart automatically, and the Google Meet options will be gone. That’s all there is to it! If you ever change your mind and want to put it back, just follow these same steps and choose the Show the Meet section in the main menu option.

Conclusion

Good thing that Google made this option to remove Meet from the sidebar. That way, users can decide for themselves if they want to keep it there or not and not be forced to do so.
