Zoom has a lot of useful features. One of those features is being able to record a meeting. Maybe you’re going to talk about something significant and want proof of what everyone said or didn’t say. Recording a Zoom meeting is easier than it sounds. You’ll see how you can do it and give others permission to record in the following instructions.
How to Record Any Zoom Meeting
The only person that can record a meeting is the host. To get started, you’ll need to start a Zoom meeting to New Meeting.
Once you’ve invited everyone to the Zoom meeting, you can start recording it by clicking on the Record button at the bottom. You can also use computer shortcuts such as Alt+R to record on your computer and Alt+C to record to the cloud. When you start recording, you’ll see a flashing red dot with control to the side at the top-left and where the Record button once was. For example, you’ll see control to stop or pause the recording. Whenever you stop or pause the meeting, you’ll also hear a voice telling you what you’ve done.
How to Allow Other Participants to Record a Zoom Meeting
If others need to record the Zoom meeting as well, you can allow them to record it by clicking Participants and when you see everyone’s name to the side, place the cursor over the name of the person you want to allow to record. Click on the blue more button and click on the Allow record option.
It’s also important that you have the option to allow others to record enabled. To enable it, go to Zoom’s official site and log into your account. To the left, click on Settings, and in the Recording tab, check the box for the option that allows others to record. If you ever want to revoke someone’s permission to record, you should also see an option to forbid recording.
When you end a meeting, you’ll see how the meeting is automatically turned into an MP4 file. In Settings, make sure that you choose where you want the file to be saved. Remember to go to the Recording tab. That’s it! As you can see, recording a Zoom meeting is an easy task.
Whether you’re the one doing the recording or not, recording any Zoom meeting is an easy task. With a few clicks here and there, you can allow others to record, or you can prevent them from recording. Do you think that you’ll be doing a lot of recording?
