Facebook added the go live feature some time ago – it allows you to show your friends not just a recording of what’s happening, but actual live footage of it! It can be anything you want it to be, from raw footage to various kinds of filters and more – the options are endless.
If you want to give it a try, all you have to do is to launch the app and, at the top of your feed, press the Live button under the text box for posts.
You’ll immediately see video feed – don’t worry, you’re not sharing just yet!
First, you need to set things up. In the top left corner, you’ll see the privacy option – here, you can decide who gets to see your live footage. The default setting is friends only, but you can set it to be whatever you’d like it to be.
In the top right corner, you’ll find options to flip your camera and to add some extra light to your feed, as well as an option for live audio (instead of live video). In the bottom half of the options, you’ll have to add a description. This will be visible to those who tap to watch your footage. You have the same options you do for a text post – you can tag people, locations and add emojis.
The last option you have at the bottom is one for filters – you don’t have to, but you can apply a selection of filters to your footage. When you’re finally ready, you can press the Start Live Video button!
To end a broadcast, tap the Finish button in the bottom right corner. You’ll see a replay of your video and get some more options. You can post the video to your timeline if you want people to be able to review it later – and you can also save it locally if you want to. Alternatively you can also Delete it if you aren’t happy with it.
