  1. From the Finder, select “Apple Menu” > “System Preferences…“.
  2. Select the “Siri” icon.
  3. Ensure the “Enable Siri” checkbox is selected. Choose the other options to the right as desired. By default, you can activate Siri by holding the “Command” key and pressing “Spacebar“.

If the “Show Siri in menu bar” checkbox is checked, you can activate Siri by clicking the Siri icon in the upper-right corner of the finder.

How to use “Hey Siri” to activate Siri?

  1. From the Finder, open “System Preferences…” > “Accessibility” > “Dictation” > “Keyboard” > “Dictation“.
  2. Ensure “Dictation” is set to “On” with the “Enhanced Dictation” box checked.
  3. From Finder, open “System Preferences…” > “Accessibility” > “Dictation” > “Dictation Commands…“

  8. For “Perform“, select “Open Finder items…“, then navigate to “Applications” and choose “Siri“.
  9. Select the Microphone icon in the top bar, and select “Listen Without Requiring Keyword Phrase“.
If you don’t like your Mac listening without requiring a keyword phrase, you can always use the keyword that is set on the “Accessibility” > “Dictation” screen (“Computer” by default), then say “Hey Siri”

Now you can say “Hey Siri” at any time to activate Siri.
