How to Turn On/Off Smart Compose in Gmail – Android
Since you’re probably on your Android device most of the time, let’s see how to turn this on on Android first. Open the Gmail app and tap on the three-lined menu at the top left. Go to Settings and choose the Gmail account you want to make the changes to. Then swipe down until you come across the Smart Reply and Smart Compose options and make sure the boxes for these options are checked.
How to Disable Smart Compose and Reply in Gmail Web
There will be times when you’ll be on your computer, for example, for work. To turn off or on smart compose and reply on your computer, sign in to your Gmail account and click on the cogwheel at the top, followed by See all settings. Click on the General tab and scroll down to the Smart Compose option and turn it off or on. You’ll find the smart reply option by scrolling down a little more.
As you can see in the image above, there are two options for the Smart Compose. One is personalized to your writing style. Make sure to see if you want that one enabled or not. If at any time you want to change things back, simply follow the same steps and click on the Off option.
