How to Effectively Manage Your LinkedIn Emails

How to Effectively Manage Your LinkedIn Emails

Posted on December 24, 2021 by Judy Sanhz Leave a Comment

If you have several social media accounts, there’s a good chance that you get a good amount of emails. Some of the emails you receive may be important, but others have turned into junk mail. Unless you want to erase each email you’re not interested in one by one, something needs to change. But, there’s no need to close your LinkedIn account.

The good news is that LinkedIn gives you the option to change the types of emails that you get. You can also change your primary email address as well. Simply because you put that first email doesn’t mean that you can’t change it. Keep reading to see how easy the process is.

How to Only Get LinkedIn Emails of Your Interest

To only get the LinkedIn emails you want, sign in to your account and click on the dropdown below your profile picture, to the right of where it says Me. Go to Settings and Privacy, followed by the Communications option.

LinkedIn email settings

In Communications, you’ll see the different options you can modify. For example, you can adjust the email settings for:

  • Conversations
  • Enterprise products
  • Jobs
  • Network
  • News
  • Profile
  • Safety and reporting

When you click on one, let’s say, for example, News. You’ll see more options on that subject. If you click on an option, you’ll see the dropdown menu for the Email frequency.

Email frequency LinkedIn

You can choose from options such as:

  • Weekly digest – If you want to get a summary message about everything, but not too often, then this is your option. You’ll only get that type of email once a week.
  • Daily digest
  • Off
  • Individually, you’ll get more emails than you might like with this option. You’ll get emails about all the items of a category. It doesn’t matter if you’ve already seen it on the site or not.
  • Recommended – This is the option to go with since it simplifies everything for you. If you have many messages, LinkedIn will create a message where you’ll see a summary of them. You won’t have to see messages about things you already saw while logged on.

Not all the options available will have a dropdown menu. Some will have an option for you to toggle on or off.

How to Change Your Primary Email Address on LinkedIn

Since we’re already on the subject of emails, if you want LinkedIn to consider another email that you have as the primary, here’s how you can change it. Click on the dropdown menu under your profile picture. Look for and click on the Sign-in and security option.

Change primary email address LinkedIn

The Email address option will be the first one on the list. Click on it, and the option will expand. You’ll see all the emails you’ve added. There will at least be one listed. One will be marked as primary. To add another email, click on the Add email address option. Click on the Send Verification options, and you’ll also need to enter your email password.

Change primary email LinkedIn

On the email you added, you’ll see the option to change it to your primary email. Once you’ve clicked on the option, your changes are saved. There’s no need to look for a Save button.

Conclusion

Unless you configure your LinkedIn emails to your liking, you might find yourself erasing a lot of unnecessary emails. You’ll need to dedicate yourself to making the necessary changes, but you’ll only need to do it once. Did you have to make a lot of changes?
