If Google Files has a private folder to keep your files safe, why wouldn’t Google Photos right? Now it does. You can finally keep your pictures confidential, so they are not seen by the wrong eyes.
With the Locked Folder, you don’t have to worry about seeing the picture with all your other pictures. Google even prevents screenshots from being taken. Keep reading to see what steps to follow to set up the locked folder.
How to Keep Your Pictures in Google Photos Private
To enable the helpful feature, you’ll need to open Google Photos. Once on the main page, tap on the Library tab at the bottom right.
Once you tap on the option to get started with the locked folder, follow the on-screen instructions. When you’ve created your locked folder, it’s going to be empty. To add your first file, tap on the blue Move items button, select the pictures you want to move into the folder, and tap on the Move option at the top right.
You can choose as many files as you want. If you ever change your mind and want to move any files out of the Locked Folder, you can. You can choose what pictures to move out of the locked folder; tap on the three dots and choose the Select option. Or, you can long-press on the image until it’s selected.
At the bottom, you’ll see two options: Delete and Move. Once you move the files, you won’t see your pictures with the rest of the images anymore. Also, the image will no longer be available in cloud back for Google Photos. If you use a third-party cloud service, the file will not be removed from there.
When you use the locked folder feature for the second time, there won’t be a big message asking you to set it up like the first time. To access the folder a second time, tap on the Library option at the bottom, followed by Utilities. The locked folder option will be in the Organize your library, under the free up space option.
Conclusion
Some pictures are meant to be kept on the private side. Thanks to the locked folder option on Google Photos, you don’t have to use a third-party app. As you can see, it’s easy to add and remove any pictures, so even if you don’t get along with technology very well, you’ll still be able to do it.
