How to Change Windows 10 Password

Posted on July 15, 2021 by Judy Sanhz Leave a Comment

There are different reasons as to why you’re changing your password. You either forgot it or just want to make sure your computer stays safe. Either way, changing your password is always a good thing, except when you forget what it is.

There are different ways you can change the password on your Windows 10 computer. The more options you have, the better, that way, you can choose whichever method is easier for you. Here’s how you can change your password.

How to Reset Your Password on Windows 10

One way you can change your password is by accessing the Settings apps. Once you have it open, go to Accounts.

On the left, click on the Sign-in options, followed by Password.

When you click on the Password option, you’ll see a Change button appear. Click on it and be ready to enter your current password, followed by the new one. Keep in mind that you can’t use the old password in the future once you change the password.

After entering the new password, don’t forget to click on the blue Next button. If you’re changing the password for a local account, the steps for changing the password are the same. You’ll also have to think of a password hint as well.

How to Reset the Microsoft Account Password

If you’re still in the Password section, you’ll see an option to your right that says Change your Microsoft account password.

When you access the link, you’ll need to sign in to your account. At the top, you’ll see various options such as Rewards, Payment & Billing, and Security. Click on this last one, and under the Change password option, click on the Change option right under it.

Reset Password from Windows 10 Sign-in Screen

You can reset your password from the sign-in screen, but only after you’ve failed to enter the correct password. You’ll see a reset password option under where you entered your password. You’ll need to get past security with the methods you’ve set up. Click on the arrow key to continue and create your new password.

How to Change the Pin – Windows 10

If what you need to change is the pin, the good news is that it’s also easy to change. To reset the pin, go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Windows Hello Pin. Click on the Change button and enter your current pin, followed by the new pin, twice. Don’t forget to click ok. If you forgot your pin, there’s an option for that too.

Conclusion

Changing your password is a good idea, especially if you’ve given it to more than a few people. As you can see that changing it is not a long and tedious process.
