Posted on May 12, 2021 by Judy Sanhz Leave a Comment

It can get boring having to hear the same voice giving you your driving directions. It might not be such a big deal to some, but it’s something that needs to be changed to others. The good news is that Google Maps has an option that allows you to change the voice that gives your the directions.

Since the phrases, Google Maps gives you are simple, maybe you want to change the language to one you’re learning. Just be careful that you understood the directions correctly. You may be looking for the nearest ATM but end up who knows where.

How to Change the Google Maps Voice

To start hearing your Google Maps directions in another language, open the app and tap on your profile picture. Go to Settings.

Once you’re in settings, swipe all the way down until you reach the Navigation settings. The guidance volume will be set to normal by default; if you need to make it louder or lower the volume, just tap on sifter or louder. YOu’ll see the changes as soon as possible.

To completely change the language, tap on voice selection and choose from a large variety of languages. Now you can get directions to the nearest gas station in any language you want.

If you want to hear what the voice will sound like, tap on the Play test sound option, and you’ll get a preview. You might be asking yourself if you can use the Google Assistant Voice on Google Maps, and the answer is that you can’t. Google Maps doesn’t allow external options. But time will tell if it continues like that.

Conclusions

Hopefully, Google Maps isn’t slow, and you were able to make the necessary changes. It would be nice if Google Maps offered funny voices for your driving directions, but who knows how long we’re going to have to wait to see those options on the list.
