I have been suffering from errors in Google Chrome where Adobe Flash would crash elements on web pages. I would be browsing along and suddenly be hit with a “Adobe Flash has crashed” message. A puzzle piece with a sad face will also appear.
This error is usually caused because the Google implementation of Flash isn’t working well. Ensure you are using the official software from Adobe.
- Ensure the official Flash Player plug-in for Chrome is installed.
- In Chrome, type “about:plugins” in the address bar, then press “Enter“.
- Select the Details button on the right side of the page.
- Scroll down to where it says “Flash” and select “Disable” in the area that references “PepperFlash“.
This will disable the integrated Flash player and hopefully prevent the plugins from crashing in the future. The other Flash player distributed by Macromedia will then handle media on web pages.
