From time to time you want or need to change your password, whether you forgot your old one or you just feel like it’s time for a change. In this article, we’ll show you how to change your Gmail password, on desktop, on Android and on iOS.
From Desktop
When you’re signed into your Gmail account and on the Gmail inbox page, click on your profile picture in the top left and go to “Manage your Google Account”.

When you’re in the account management page you need to select “Personal info” on the left-hand side and click on it.

The last option in the first box here is all about your password, and it tells you when you last changed it. To change it now, you need to click anywhere in the password box.

Now you will be required to re-enter your current password to verify that you are the account owner. This is for security reasons – in case you left your account logged in somewhere, nobody other than you can change your password!

Finally, you need to enter your new password twice. Remember to choose a strong password and not to use the same password on different websites – your Facebook password should not be the same as your Gmail password.

Tip: A strong password should be as long as possible. Passwords should be a minimum of 10 characters but more is better. A strong password should also contain a mixture of uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols. Passwords should not be made up from a single word, “Password1!” is not secure. Avoid your own name or the name of a pet or child, and instead go for something impossible to guess!
From Android
To change your Gmail password on Android, you first need to click on the burger menu at the top of the search bar. Then, select the “Settings” option near the bottom.

You’ll see a list of all the accounts you are logged into – click on the one you want to change the password for. When you’ve clicked on the account you want to edit, select the “Manage your Google Account” option below your email address.
Once you are in your Google account settings, move to the tab into “Personal Info” and tap on the password box partway down the page.

Enter your password to verify that you are the account owner, like you would on a desktop.

Then set your new password. Remember to choose something secure and hard to guess!

From iOS
To change your Gmail password on iOS, click on your profile picture in the top left and select “Manage your Google Account”.

Tap on the tab labelled “Personal Info”, and then go down to the password box like on Android.

You’ll have to enter your current password to verify that you are the account owner, and then you’ll be able to enter your new password.

Once your new password is submitted, you’re all set.
