If you need to insert or remove a SIM or USIM card in your Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge smartphone, this tutorial is for you.
Removing SIM Card
- Locate the SIM Card tray. It is located below the Power button on the side of the standard S6 model. On Edge models, it is located on the top of the device.
- Use the eject tool included with your Galaxy S6 or a paper clip to gently push the small button on the SIM Card tray.
- The tray will eject and allow you to remove the SIM Card.
Inserting SIM Card
- Place the SIM Card in the SIM Card tray.
- Insert the tray into the SIM Card slot until it snaps securely in place.

Heads up older, IE S5 simcards are bigger, will NOT fit an S6
Richard says
This is odd, because other sites say the S6 does not have a removable memory card.
Mine has the little hole, noted. No tool and despite using considerable force, I can’t get any try to pop out. Looks rock solid to me.

Which way does the sim card go in once I get the tray out? Card is too big (?) and once I get card in tray won’t go back in.
George says
Can I use a safety pin
carolyn schempf says
It says to put sim card in the tray. Mine is bigger than the tray. It doesn’t say up,down, forward or backside. No help
Bob Atome says
Yes great help, thanks. **Note to all S6 users: You may have to press firmly down with the Unlock Tool or paperclip. It takes quite a bit of pressure.
Sir says
What do you do if you’re sim card tray won’t pop out?
Patricia Akers says
I replaced my SIM card and now I can’t make phone calls. And it’s not allowing me to send messages so you may not even get this! It comes up saying I can only make emergency calls now since this new SIM card is in. I put the old SIM card in again and it’s doing the same crap

Just got my samsung 6 o put sim in not with tray wouldn’t go in so i though you kust pushed sim in now cant get it out stupid setup new plan cant get acctivated how do i get sim out help so frustrated
Cindy says
Really poor design. Sim card didn’t snap into tray, so I assumed it was a place holder … Now the card is stuck in the slot and I have no phone to use. This is insane. Never had trouble with Samsung before.
Grandma Green says
Thank you ! When I read your instructions, was so easy to access the sim tray !!
Esmeralda says
Can’t stand that you can’t just press a button and it will open
yellappa setty says
Surprise ..the sim tray in Samsung galaxy-6 can be inserted reverse and easily damaged. It is foolish design. The designer should make it impossible to insert the tray reverse if it is pushed reverse.
