Galaxy Note8: How to Enable Silent Mode

Galaxy Note8: How to Enable Silent Mode

By Mitch Bartlett 2 Comments

Whether on the golf course, at work or in a move theater, there will come a time when you will need to quickly enable Silent Mode on your Samsung Galaxy Note8. Putting the device in Silent Mode will silence the ringer on the device.

Option 1 – Mute Sound Settings

  • Using 2 fingers, swipe the quick menu down from the top of the screen.
  • Swipe left or right to reveal the “Sound” button.
  • Tap and hold the “Sound” button.
  • Select “Mute” or “Vibrate” as desired.

Option 2 – DND

  1. Using 2 fingers, swipe the quick menu down from the top of the screen.
  2. Swipe left or right to reveal the “Do not disturb” button. Select it to mute calls, alerts, and media, except what is set under the “Settings” > “Sounds and vibration” > “Do not disturb” > “Allow exceptions” setting.

Option 3 – Easy Silent

  1. Ensure “Easy Mute” is enabled under “Apps” > “Settings” > “Advanced Features“.
  2. To use Easy Mute to keep your phone silent, cover the screen with your hand or place it face down on a flat surface.

How can I turn of the sound that happens when Leaving silent mode please? I want calls to come through after five if necessary (when my do not disturb ends), but would like to not be woken by my phone beeping at five just because the do not disturb turns off. Thank you!
