It’s good practice to regularly audit and remove apps from your Samsung Galaxy Note 9 to free memory and ensure proper operation. Even if you don’t use an app, it may still run in the background and slow performance. Follow these steps and get rid of apps you no longer use.
Option 1 – From Menu
- From the Home screen, swipe your list of apps up.
- Tap and hold the icon for the app you wish to remove.
- Select “Uninstall” or “Disable“.
Note: The “Disable” option does not actually uninstall the app, but it prevents it from running and removes it from your Apps menu. Pre-installed apps will only show the “Disabled” option and cannot be completely removed. You will only have the option to turn it off or uninstall updates.
Option 2 – From Settings
- From the Home screen, swipe the list of apps up.
- Choose “Settings“.
- Select “Apps“.
- Select the app you wish to remove.
- Tap “Uninstall” or “Disable“.
Option 3 – From Google Play App
- Open the “Play” app.
- Select the “Menu”
button.
- Select “My apps & games“.
- Tap “Installed” at the top of the screen.
- Select the app you wish to remove.
- Tap the “Uninstall” option.
Pre-Installed Apps
If you’re looking for a way to get rid of those pesky pre-installed apps that your carrier installed, there unfortunately isn’t an easy solution for most users. You’ll have to be technically apt and know how to root the Note 9. Once you gain root access, you’ll be able to install and uninstall any app you like. Otherwise, pre-installed apps will forever be on the device and the option to uninstall the app will be not be available. You will only be able to freeze them.
