Fight Coronavirus Price Gouging With These Free Android Apps

Posted on March 20, 2020 by Judy Sanhz Leave a Comment

Unfortunately, during this time of crisis, some people don’t care if you pay too much for things. So, to protect yourself from paying too much for something, there are Android apps you can use that will help you compare prices.

That way, you can always find the best deal and pay as little as possible. The following apps are free and will surely help you save some extra cash that can be used for something more substantial.

1. ShopSavvy – Barcode Scanner & Price Comparison

ShopSavvy (Android) is a useful app when it comes to finding the best deals. The app has over 10 million downloads and is easy to use. The app has various features, such as alerting you of any price drops and also (by using your location), letting you know what stores near you have the lowest prices.

You can compare prices by scanning the barcode or by manually searching for the product. Type the name of the product in the search bar, and the app will show you the different stores you can get it and at what price.

2. Shopbrain – Find Daily Deals & Save Money

Shopbrain, besides helping you compare prices, it also shows you the best deals. For example, at the bottom, you’ll see four tabs (Price Checker, Barcode scanner, Top Deals, Price Watch) and on the Top Deals one, you’ll see the best online deals for Amazon (Deals of the Day), eBay Feature Deals, and Best Buy Deals of the Day.

The app will show you how much of a discount you get on each item. As you can see in the image below, there’s a great deal on some wireless In-Ear Bluetooth Headphones that are 70%.

To compare prices and get the best deals, you can use the Barcode Scan tab, tap on the red Scan Barcode button, and scan away. You can compare prices for places such as:

  • Amazon
  • Home Depot
  • Best Buy
  • Target
  • Walmart
  • Google Shopping

3. idealo – Price Comparison & Mobile Shopping App

idealo is a little different than the other apps. When you first open the app, it’ll ask you where you want to shop, and it’ll list countries such as:

  • Austria
  • France
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Spain
  • United Kingdom

Other than that, it’s a great app to find cheap deals online. You can search for something by typing it manually, using speech-to-text, and using the barcode scanner.

There’s a tab where you can save your favorite searches and a Products tab where you can choose from a large variety of categories such as:

  • Baby & Child
  • Beverages
  • Electronics
  • Pet Supplies
  • Toys & Gaming and others.

4. Google Shopping

Google Shopping also shows you the price of the item you’re looking for from various sources. Just look for a specific item, and when the page for that item opens, swipe all the down.

There you’ll see the prices for other sources, and if they offer a better deal, go for it.

You can look for an item from the Home page or from the Browse tab. You have a lot of categories to choose from such as:

  • Electronics
  • Home & Garden
  • Health & Beauty
  • Toys & Games
  • Grocery, and more.

Conclusion

Because of the Coronavirus, some will try to sell you things at a high price. Thanks to price comparison apps, you can always get the best deals.  What apps do you use to get the best deals? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
