Social media can quickly send you down the rabbit hole before you know it. The algorithms that Facebook and other social media platforms rely on are meant to keep you glued to your screen for as long as possible. This is done by serving you fresh and relevant content.
For example, Facebook uses “Suggested for you” posts to serve content relevant to you and convince you to stay online for longer. But many users hate this feature and would gladly turn it off.
How Do I Disable “Suggested for You” Posts on Facebook?
Facebook doesn’t let you permanently disable “Suggested for you” posts. What you can do is manage what you see as suggested posts. Here’s how you can do that.
- Go to the suggested post that you want to manage
- Select More options (the three dots)
- Select Hide post if you want to see fewer posts like that
- You can also Snooze for 30 days if you want to temporarily stop seeing posts from them
- You can select Hide all if you want to stop seeing posts from that page or person
Use FB Purity
There’s an interesting browser extension called FB (FluffBusting) Purity that you can use to “filter the junk you don’t want to see.” This extension can hide ads, sponsored posts, game spam, and suggested posts.
You should always proceed with caution when installing third-party browser extensions. They may sometimes break the scripts of the web pages you’re visiting. Always download browser extensions from the official Chrome Web Store or other official sources. Don’t use obscure download pages as the tools available on these websites often contain malware and other potentially unwanted programs.
If You’re a Page Admin or Owner
If you’re the owner or admin of a Facebook business page, you can disable the “Suggested for you” feature. When Facebook users visit pages similar to yours, your Page will no longer appear in recommendations or suggested posts.
- Go to your Facebook News Feed
- Click Pages in the left menu
- Go to your Page
- Click on Settings
- Then, go to General
- Select Similar Page Suggestions
- Uncheck the box that says Include page when recommending similar Pages people might like on a Page timeline
- Save the changes
Why Am I Getting So Many “Suggested for You” Posts on Facebook?
Facebook uses “Suggested for You” posts to help you discover new things on the platform. Suggested posts are based on your previous Facebook activity. They’re not paid for. The platform identifies what posts might be relevant to you and invites you to check them out.
What Influences Suggested Posts
The following factors influence the posts suggested for you:
- Who interacted with the post: If other users, especially friends and people you follow, have recently interacted with a post, Facebook will recommend you check out the respective posts. It doesn’t matter you’re not a member of the group where that post was published.
- Related topics: Facebook may suggest others posts related to a topic you’ve recently engaged with. For instance, if you recently liked a post about cats, Facebook will suggest other posts and pages about cats.
- Location: Facebook may suggest posts based on your current location and what people near you are interacting with.
Meta strives to make recommendations that are relevant to users. Feel free to let the company know when you receive low-quality, objectionable, inappropriate, or sensitive recommendations.
Conclusion
While you can’t disable suggested posts on Facebook, you can manage what you see as suggested posts. Go to “More options” to snooze or hide suggested posts and similar pages. Alternatively, you can use a third-party browser extension to hide unwanted posts.

Tom says
I have noticed that the more suggested posts I block, the more that get added. Instead of blocking I have instead been clicking the user profile of the person who ‘recommended’. Doing this I have discovered that the link takes me to dummy profiles where the person has no content, friends or posts. So 70% of the posts on my timeline are suggestions by people who don’t exists!
Gregg says
Expressing a concern that has been bothering many Facebook users, including myself. While Facebook has undoubtedly revolutionized the way we connect and share with our friends and family, some aspects of the user experience can sometimes be less enjoyable. One such aspect is the constant influx of suggested posts in our feeds.
I understand that suggested posts are a part of Facebook’s efforts to keep users engaged and informed about relevant content. However, the frequency and sometimes irrelevance of these suggestions can be overwhelming and distracting. Many users, myself included, would greatly appreciate the option to permanently disable suggested posts from our feeds.
By providing users with the ability to permanently opt-out of suggested posts, Facebook would demonstrate its commitment to catering to individual preferences and enhancing user satisfaction. This feature could be implemented through the settings menu, allowing users to customize their feed and make it a more enjoyable and focused experience. While I recognize that these suggestions contribute to your platform’s advertising revenue, ensuring a positive user experience should also be a top priority.
I kindly request that Facebook’s development team consider implementing this feature as part of an upcoming update. Allowing users to have more control over the content they see aligns with Facebook’s goal of providing a personalized and enjoyable social media experience. It would show that Facebook listens to its users’ feedback and is willing to adapt its platform to their needs.
Marc says
I suddenly get 10% what I normally see and 90% crap suggestions. Thiseas never that bad. I must have blocked 100 by now (one by one), but am getting tired of it. Is there no way to stop this nonsense?
Michael says
Why should FB have the say over what type of information I am interested in and what i am not. They should allow the user to make that decision and not take it upon themselves to feel that is their decision. That is one of the many problems with FB…they do not listen to their users needs and wants.
Jane says
Same here. Just counted 20 “suggested and “sponsored” posts and that’s when I stopped counting. Nothing from my groups, or my friends or my pages. Nothing! I’m
Sick of Facebook shoving this stuff on me. Facebook had turned to crap.
Zach says
I feel like all my feed is now mostly sexy girls in bikinis. It’s completely screwed up my feed and now I can’t let my wife look at my feed or else she’ll be asking questions… WTF Facebook? ????
Steve says
Most of the suggestions have no relevance whatsoever to me or my needs. We should have the right to stop them en masse or at least Facebook should correct its algorithms.
I hope all these comments have some effect.
Grandma and pa says
This should be able to be turned off. It is shameful what will come up, and with grandkids in the house I do not want them exposed to such crap.
martin horgan says
Sick of suggestions and recommendations and adds. I don’t want to spend half my time hiding pages i do not want. Have enough of that in my email inbox.
Stan B says
I don’t want your suggestions AT ALL. My timeline is already crowded enough with what I WANT to see, and I don’t want to spend my whole effing day turning OFF pages I don’t want to see. One or two suggestions a day I MIGHT find OK – but I just turned off over a dozen suggestions in a timeline with less than 2 dozen posts since I last checked it. It sucks, and I might as well go over to Twitter at this point.
Alan says
I think I want to be able to turn off the suggested for me crap. I do not want to see it. I want to see my friends or what I want to see not what somebody thinks I want to see. It is crap.
Michael van der Riet says
I am so glad to see this page with all the complaints. I thought that Facebook was punishing me for not having the right opinions, like the Community Standards Stasi only different.
Gaétan Berthold says
YES!!! Give us the option of turning off all these stupid suggestions. I spend mor time hiding each individual suggestions than getting in touch with my friends. For family reasons, I need to use Messenger: as soon as the situation is resolved, I’m shutting down my FB account.
Peter Whitehead says
I am thoroughly sick of Facebook. I get one genuine item and then nothing but rubbish, “sponsored” and “Selected for you”. It used to be OK but is now a complete waste of time. Rubblish.
Chris M says
These posts are forcing me to avoid facebook. I only want to see posts from my friends, but these “suggested for you” posts are constantly in the way. Sick of facebook and their manipulation of data with their algorithims and deceitful methods ( cambridge analytica etc…. )
Samujjal Kalita says
My facebook page is full of suggested for you, 99% of not relevant at all. I seeing feeds that I would have never discovered in my entire life. All rubbish feeds.
I can not see my friend’s post. Its so annoying, I am tired of snooze and hiding and blocking.
Is there a solution to end this.
Taz says
FB sucks! To spend so much time ‘hiding’ pages I’ve no interest in is irritating. Seems FB is becoming autocratic and controlling. Just stop.
Buddy Pupper says
Receiving “suggested posts” that I did not request is absurd! If I want specific subjects, Ill search for them. In the future, I will only use FB to interact with friends and nothing else.
KEVIN BENGSTON says
The “Suggested for you” posts are driving me absolutely crazy!
How do I stop all of these?
J Tran says
Facebook “Suggested for You” posts should have the option to be TURNED OFF. I keep seeing spoilers for a book or show that I am planning to watch or read. No matter how many times I hide the post, I get a similar post about the subject from a different account. I am on the verge of disabling my account because seeing so many spoilers and continuously removing them is getting tiring.
Sandra Staub says
Every second post is “suggested for you” This is not what I am here for. I’m going on Facebook less and less because of this. I don’t look at their suggestions and resent this waste of my time.
Boomer McGee says
> Why Am I Getting So Many “Suggested for You” Posts on Facebook?
It’s the death knell for the platform…
Des says
They should be TURNED OFF!
I’m in dozens of Groups I CHOOSE to be in; yet I hardly see ANY POSTS FROM THEM. it’s MOSTLY FB Suggested which is of NO INTEREST at all. I can spend 30 minutes ticking ‘Hide All’ or ‘Stop showing posts like this’ – and it makes NO DIFFERENCE – they just find a whole bunch more.
This has got absolutely ridiculous.
Bring back the user control, before you lose even more people!
Joyce Garrett says
All of these suggested post are disturbing to the messages that we are trying to relay to our friends and followers as we promote our cause. I support a way to permanently disable “recommended posts”.

Wangbone Shanglanger says
The idea of having content suggested to me is one thing, and bad enough. Not being able to turn it off is worse. But worst of all is the fact that the content is all stupid.

The suggested for you post are driving me away from FB… I could see one a day maybe, but force feeding me with irrelevant info causes me to turn Fb off… just look at it .. it terrible.. take note..just remember… pay attention to your customers, or they Will leave!
Sébastien says
I report every FB “suggested for you” posts as “Harassment”. Cause it is harassment. It doesn’t stop suggestions but it does mess up FB algorithms and I see far less suggestions.
Dave Axon says
“Suggested for you” is about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit. They are, without exception, totally irrelevant. And the only way I can remove them is to hide each one individually. Give users the option to turn them off.
kwatts says
What an intrusion into my feed! STOP with this stuff. I do not like or agree with many of the things YOU suggest for me to look at. It is quite the annoyance and distracts from the pleasure of opening my feed to see what I WANT TO SEE.
We should DEFINITELY have the ability to opt-out of this forced social experiment.
Cheryl Turner says
Please stop with “suggested for you” posts. My whole need feed is these annoying posts that are irrelevant to me. I do not have one post from friends or family as these annoying spam posts have taken over my news feed. I stopped clicking Hide after about 60 in a row
Moon says
Every 3 scrolls and the suggestions pop up. I am so fed up of it , and its the same stupid suggestions ➡️➡️people you may know,➡️➡️support businesses, ➡️➡️groups you might like ….it’s extremely annoying ???? and truly there should be an option to block that nonsense. I can’t just scroll through my news.feed without the harassment. Its ????.
Sandi Webb says
Stop with the post recommended for me. It’s annoying. I want to see friends I follow, not ads, not posts recommended for me. I know I have to see ads, but the recommended posts is getting out of hand. One out of ten posts are my friends the rest are junk. We need an option to stops posts recommended for me immediately. I may have to stop using fb if this doesn’t improve.
Dove says
I hate it. I get more suggested for you posts than I do Facebook posts. I only have Facebook to follow certain businesses that I like, television shows and inspirational websites. I don’t have any FB friends and don’t really want to interact with people on Facebook. Suggested for you posts are nothing but a nuisance and I am about ready to give it up entirely.
Chris Riker says
Yet another dog of an idea from FB.
The “Suggested for you” that I’m getting are increasingly political and vile.
STOP
John says
The suggested contents seems to me are passive aggressive suggestions based on data collected from you (history etc). Like if you don’t big tech they suggest Microsoft are doing great things to help people haha. Was looking to turn this off haha.
Daniell Searle says
The suggested posts are totally intrusive and clearly FB has NO IDEA what our business is because the suggested posts are naught to do with it! Please for the love of sanity turn the thing off!!!!!! We are more than capable of choosing what we want on our business and private pages.
akmk says
suggested anything by Facebook makes me hate Facebook..
just stop..
we are capable of controlling our own decisions without these awful intrusions
Diolla says
I have FB Purity on my browser version which works fine. But I also run some business pages which I access through Android apps. Now it has become almost impossible to use these because every time I access one of my business pages I am inundated with “Suggested for you”. I do not follow ANY other pages with my business pages, they exist only as a portal for my customers to contact me. They have become virtually unusable. Am now contemplating moving my businesses to Instagram where it seems you have a bit less of this harassment.
Dr. R. C. Leonard says
These “suggested for you” posts seem to be much worse on the Edge browser. I don’t seem to get them to the same degree when using Chrome, Opera, or Waterfox to view my FB feed.
David says
Since I have no way of rejecting these suggestions, I will take every unsolicited post as forced intrusion, and will respond to each as I would to anyone trying to access my personal space without my permission ; with abuse. I’m sorry for the pages that are going to be on the receiving end of my anger, but I didn’t ask you to fill my page with trash.
fahim says
I just installed the Chrome extension “FBPurity” this evening.
Immediately, the Facebook “Suggested For You” posts are gone. It just works. I made no customizations to the settings yet and everything I don’t want to see is filtered out.
Don’t you love it when something simply works?
Ben Ting says
Absolutely ridiculous.
I may as well delete Facebook now.
Scrolling through endless trash I have no interest in.
Heather says
As a result of being relentlessly inundated with unwanted Suggested posts, I’ve come to hate Facebook and use it less & less. Once upon a time I liked it connecting with friends. Now? A few seconds of scrolling is nothing but unwelcome & annoying Suggested posts and I’m out.
Ramjet says
I don’t need Facebook to suggest anything to me. I can do my own research.
Kevin Kristen says
My page is completely inundated, it’s ridiculous! Facebook needs to give an option to stop this. I have enough intelligence to go look for pages of topics I am interested in!!
Phil says
I only use facebook to keep in touch with distant friends. I’ve suddenly started getting ‘suggested for you’ posts every other post on my timeline is nothing to do with me.
How do you get rid of them. If the wall is filled with crap not related to friends, then I get frustrated and turn it off ( dyslexia causes me to lose my temper when i cant read stuff ). When the adverts are coming through as well. I have to scroll the screen down a few pages before i see a post relevant to me.
Starting to research alternative methods of staying in touch with friends now im not working up and down the country and constantly moving.
Parvin says
Faceebook, stop suggesting crap into my timeline and facebook page!
Deborah says
The problem with deleting these “suggestions” is that another one immediately appears! And they’re not relevant. A friend today posted a memory of her riding a horse. All day long I’ve been getting equestrian and racing “suggestions”!
Jim says
I hate suggested for you posts. They distract from content I want to see. Worse than adds. Let me turn off that option.
Bill Paterson says
“suggested for you” is horrible
Ed Holmes says
Time for people to shut off Facebook until they stop this massive annoyance. I spend forever weeding through and turning off suggested posts before I can get to posts from my friends and groups – absolutely ridiculous!
Joshua says
Bro, what an useless post here. Fkng click bait worse than FB itself.
Craig Kelly says
Let me turn off suggested for you…a waste of time and intrusive
Tim Bounds says
I’m getting a torrent of ‘suggested for you’ posts from right wing organisations which I find quite offensive. I even got the ‘Donald J Trump Fanclub’ the other day! I don’t even live in the USA! Utterly sick of it. What did I do to deserve this crap? Why can’t I turn it off? I can block all from each group, but there are new equally offensive posts the next day.
Marco says
FacebookFacebook is digging its own grave
Roger Wilco says
I just installed the Chrome extension “FBPurity” this evening.
Immediately, the Facebook “Suggested For You” posts are gone. It just works. I made no customizations to the settings yet and everything I don’t want to see is filtered out.
Don’t you love it when something simply works?
Steven says
NO–it is just annoying–what the author here is saying is that each suggestion individually has to be hidden–wasting a whole lot of time.
I don’t want to see any suggestions! Bad enough my friends annoy me with nonsense!
Mike says
This is beyond Ridiculous. I need to turn off suggested for you on my page. None of this stuff is related to the purpose of my page.
Mark says
Facebook needs to shut this feature down! I’m half temped to stop using Facebook. The last thing I need is Facebook suggesting things to me.
paula says
I am at the point where I’m bombarded with suggested posts and am ready to delete my account. I don’t have time to go through all of these suggested posts to find real friend posts. Ridiculous
jk says
Same here, happened a few days now.
Elaine Sollars says
I feel like everyone else here. I have put up with a LOT of Facebook’s nonsense over recent years, but this might be the last straw. I have turned off so many pages but it just never ends; it gets worse every time I go to Facebook. Seems like I see 5 suggested posts for every actual post from a friend. One after another…down the page…it NEVER ENDS!! Just STOP already.
I got here by googling “how to turn off Facebook suggested for you posts” and am very disappointed that FB gives us no options. I could make a long list of all the things I wish they would let us turn off.
W K says
Just more and more and junk!
It seems as though, when I block a sender Facebook perceives this as me having shown an interest and directs and more similar trash my way. I sometimes wonder if they are playing a game to see how far they can push their users before they quit! Not much further for me!
Chantal says
Yes for sure!!!! At first there were only a few, yet my newsfeed this morning has one post from a friend and 2 suggested posts a ad, 2 suggested post a ad, non stop, no other posts. I have to refresh to see a new post from a friend and then again just suggested posts and ads! Goodbye Facebook!!
Marcy Ortega says
The “Suggested for you” posts just started recently and it’s driving me absolutely crazy! I end up logging out immediately and always miss what family and friends are up to.
rick says
I can no longer see posts from friends or pages I follow, nearly 100% of posts on my feed are from ‘suggested for you’, why won’t they just let me see the content I’m actually following instead of this garbage?? And I’m also being constantly recommended groups that bully/mock/harrass lgbt people – erm I’m gay myself, maybe don’t suggest these things to me!
Haley says
Facebook can do whatever it likes, it doesn’t need to provide you with any options to turn things on and off, until is a private corporation and it’s not beholden to you. You agreed to their terms and conditions, and your data is theirs to sell, so you have to accept it, or just get off the platform.
Dan says
My newsfeed s swamped with Suggested from you and only 4-5 posts, the rest ads. Where
are my 645 friends posts? I have to search their names to see what they post. FB going
down hill fast. Do they have any idea what we want? Their stock and their memberships have crashed. FB Purity works great on my Mac but can’t get on Ipad or Iphone.
J says
All I see on facebook is an attemp at racism on the suggested pages. Always racist bs and I am tired of seeing it. Yet FB provides no way to make it go away. So I guess I will have to quit facebook,
Sean McAndrew says
I scrolled on my phone for 5 minutes and never saw a friends post, just Suggest For You. Give us the option what we want to see.
Redcyn_22 says
Congratulations, Facebook, for completely alienating me from your social media! Like everyone else here, I’m sick of trolling through Suggested Posts to get to my desired feed items. I liked ONE specific artist from my dog group and now I’m getting dozens of other artist pages “suggested” every day in my feed. As well as stuff I have absolutely NO interest in. Oh well, shouldn’t be bitching here but on FB. Thanks for allowing people to comment here. Putting my hair fire out now…
Bonita says
Happened suddenly. One day, my homepage was clear; the next, it was flooded with page suggestions. How many times do I have to select, “Hide all from…?”
MIke says
it’s beyond ridiculous. Every other post in my news feed is ‘suggested’ and not one of them is meaningful. It is driving me crazy, my use of FB will fall off a cliff for this. Really annoying. I do not need to be given suggestions for what I might like to see when I can’t see what I want to see. How about suggesting you show me my newsfeed?
M Church says
Could not hate the “suggested for you” more! HATE HATE HATE. Literally every other post on my feed is some RIDICULOUS “suggested for you” (as if I’m a rodeo clown – what even?!) STOP IT and let me have control over MY facebook page again.
Morris Fraser says
PS to my previous post…The following line is at the end of my comment space: “This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. Learn how your comment data is processed.” See the irony? FB admits it uses a program to reduce spam, then increases spam.
Morris Fraser says
I have two ways to deal with the issue. One, I report the post as spam. Yes, I think “terrorism” might be effective, but pretty soon Facebook will just ignore any responses. Two, I hereby vow in public and hoping some human in FB actually reads, this, I will never — NEVER, — read or pay attention to any post with Suggested for you on it. Never, look at it, Never open any links, Never admit it exists. Always pass it right by without a glance.
These approaches may be mutually exclusive, But since I don’t have the addresses (real or otherwise) of ranking FB officials, this is the best I can do.
Loretta Anderson says
So far today (9/12/22), I have received 55 (FIFTYFIVE) ‘suggested for you’ posts. Enough already!!! It’s taking me way too much time to even “hide” them, then the same content comes back under another heading! I hate them!
Anne S says
Me too, I have ‘hidden’ dozens of suggestions for useless annoying items – but they just keep coming – really I want to delete Facebook, I only keep it going for contact with key people, I avoid using it even more now. I am increasingly keen on disconnecting our business to avoid being associated with this dreadful marketing model of forcing stuff on people in the expectation that a little bit sticks – yuck.
Catherine Carr says
I really hate the suggested for you posts. it seems to be 70% of my feed and I despise it.
alex diduch says
welp, never going to use facebook again, garbage app
Curtis says
I have decided to Report each and every one of the “suggested for you” as Terrorism….. Lets see how Facebook feels about paying someone to review each of them and make a determination!! Enjoy your own spam thrown back in your face.
Mike Gollop says
Not that anyone will ever listen to these comments but I don’t need Meta to tell me what I might be interested in. Get rid of it.
Chris SNUGGS says
It is BS. Facebook has become arrogant and now deserves a fast extinction. WE DO NOT NEED “SUGGESTIONS FOR YOU”.
Matt. K says
I will eventually ditch FB if they continue with those annoying ‘suggested for you” posts. Who was the idiot that thought they were a good idea?
L. J. Stoney says
You are driving me crazy with “suggested for you” posts. I thought Facebook was better than this. I am receiving “suggested for you” posts at a rate I can’t keep up with, hiding and reporting. I’ve have had no pleasure being on Facebook since the numbers have escalated. Please STOP!!!
Rob says
Terrible waste of my time. Make iit stop
Barbe says
By reading these comments it seems this problem has been going on for at least 5 months with no relief from Farce Book administrators. We NEED to be able to control what is fed to us online! If some caring FB employee could help make this happen it would be greatly appreciated!!!
Tony F says
Don’t need or want ‘Suggested for You’ ‘My Story’ ‘Reels’ ‘ Create Room’ ‘Someone you might know’.
Getting very close to deleting Facebook altogether. Fact Checkers are nothing more than people with a different opinion to you. You get banned even if you are right.
plc says
FB feed now unusable – 80% ‘suggested for you’ and 10% sponsored ads makes it so tedious to follow my friends’ posts. If it continues, ill be leaving for good.
Rob says
Facebook (Meta) and most social media companies are flooding our timelines with useless trash and is only meant to increase clicks and generate ad revenue for them. While they have a right to make money, the intrusion into our lives is starting to feel very overwhelming. Something that was once fun is now anything but. Solution: Install Social Fixer and get back the Facebook you want. While you’re at it consider a donation to the developer. I’ve used SF for years and after successfully and easily filtering out those pesky “suggested for you” posts, I am very strongly considering my first ever donation.
Matt says
Maybe just delete facebook and be done with the drama.
Ronon says
I am reporting all those suggested posts. And then blocking.
julie zieglgansberger says
if it was 1 or 2 that would be one thing. but for every suggested for you page i block, i get 3 more in its place. its out of hand. like seriously. fb can go if it doesnt stop. They are going to lose people. its actually making me angry
Seth W says
Getting tired of playing whack-a-mole with these stupid suggestions, Some are even offensive to me so obviously they don’t know me after 15 years, daily of being on the damn site.
Donald Alessi, Jr. says
This “suggested for you” stuff just started and it is terrible. I suppose there are two choices: facebook can make it go away, or they can continue to ensure that I slowly go away – soon enough I’ll be gone…
Paul F. says
I’m getting more “Suggested for You” than posts from friends. How about you? I’m clicking the three dots, click HIDE, and then REPORT PHOTO. Report it as SPAM. Join me in this. With practice, you can report 2.5 messages per minute. Volume is the key. When Facebook sees an uptick in SPAM reports, maybe they will get the message!
Peter Piper says
Really close to dropping Facebook. I only created my account for a specific limited purpose and I cannot even see those people because there are so many sponsored and suggested for you posts. I deleted or unfollowed every group I was in which was less than 10 but I don’t expect that to make any impact because I could not see any of those posts anyway due to the avalanche of suggested for you and sponsored posts. What drove me to this was on my phone I got to the end of the limited number of posts that phones show and only saw suggested for you and sponsored items. I am now at the point that I use Facebook Messenger but not Facebook and that’s the only reason I did not delete the account.
W says
It’s possibly that some people like – suggesterd for you – but as with most people here I hate them. Why can’t we turn them off? Presumably Facebook makes money from this somehow!
Brian says
I HATE suggested for you posts and also would like to get rid of Shorts and reels. I only stay with Farcebook because of the clubs I belong to that comminicate through it. Give us a way to get rid of these extreme irritations!
James Barnes says
We wouldn’t be here if we liked it!
Frank says
This does not match the web app version of Facebook. There is no way to disable these suggestions and now I have to scroll past or hide each suggestion. This won’t last long and I’ll just dump Facebook yet again. Really stupid development.
Susan Cawley says
Facebook just bombarded me with over 40 “suggested for you” posts–most totally irrelevant and nothing I am interested in. There should be a way to turn this off. Getting closer to quitting Meta/Facebook.
Sandra says
I do hope comments made here are relayed to Meta/Facebook.
I choose the groups I want to be in. These last months when I go to groups, I’m getting all these “suggested for you” in my group feed.
Not having any control to permanently stop that activity on my fb is just wrong! The 3 dot thing is time consuming for every suggestion and still I’m flooded with more and more suggestions every day.
It’s extremely annoying/frustrating/and just plain RUDE on FB’s part.
Paul says
Account deactivated, I’m sick of them flooding my feed with this rubbish.
A two week cooling off period, to make sure I don’t need anything FB related then the account will be deleted
Sheryl says
I permanently deleted my account simply because of SUGGESTED FOR YOU,
Susan says
Facebook is losing users left and right. They wonder why. Their push of ads and “suggested for you” is part of the reason. My feed is so cluttered and no matter how many times I try to clean it up it goes back to nothing more than a constant barrage of advertising I am not interested in. They have corrupted their platform to the extent that it is nothing but a junk mail service.
Anne says
I am fuming. My feed is suddenly full of suggested for you posts and I have NONE from any of my friends and family. It just ends. I don’t even have the ones that were there earlier. By me keep hitting the X do they think I don’t want to see any posts? It’s ridiculous.
Robert B. says
Sick and tired of this crap! Every single suggested for you post on my feed has been of NO INTEREST to me. I’ve had to block almost 200 of these things in the past 24 hours alone!
John C says
I have found a solution. I am deleting facebook. It’s no longer useful,
eireann says
It didnt help.
I dont want to se any suggestions without having to switch that shit off one by one.
I hate suggestions.
Smelly says
I’m vegetarian and not really have any political affiliation or views. However I’m bombarded with ads for both meat and political right wing propaganda. The more I block the more I get them. I’m now up to three suggested post in a row for every post from a friend not to mention sponsored links thrown in the mix.
Diane says

I got here by googling “how to turn off Facebook suggested for you posts” and am very disappointed that FB gives us no options. I could make a long list of all the things I wish they would let us turn off. I will happily try the suggested “Purity” extension no matter how buggy it might be!!
g says
I can block 100 of the damned things and they keep coming back, Going through the five click BS for each one does nothing at all
John says
I blocked about 20 of these suggested pages today. It won’t let me block them from the 3 dots so I have to go to their page first to block it.. Seems pretty dang fishy and I wish to god that I could turn off suggestions.
Lilae says
Well, fat lot of good that does me. That means I have no way to avoid those stupid posts.
Thanks very much for the information, though; I DO appreciate it. Please don’t feel that my earlier paragraph was anything personal against you; I’m only venting about Facebook. I’m glad that your blog was here to let me know this.
????
Arlene Blumenthal says
got so many suggested posts today and I have not finished hiding them. Have not seen one post from my friends. So that is weird. What’s the deal. This is when I am on my computer. On the phone it is the same as before. What’s up with that.
Cheryl says
Stop the suggested for you pages!!!!
I am not interested in ANY of them.
The Voice of the Spirit - S.G.Rose says
All of a sudden my public page (which is a ministry page) is FLOODED with suggested posts which are non-relevant. I don’t want to see ANY SUGGESTED POSTS WHATSOEVER. Now I am having to spend hours hiding literally huncreds of them in search of the groups or individuals I actually want to see. . There should simply be an option to turn OFF any and all suggested posts. If we want to look for similar posts, we can do so. STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP. SUGGESTING ANYTHING TO ME. JUST STOP.
Harry Wilson says
Facebook is using this to push its political agenda! All I get are adds from left wing sites. They are still so butt hurt over President Trump that it has become an obsession for them. Get over it.
Marc Walker says
Time to delete Facebook, I have been bombarded with suggested pages, I see more of them than my friends post even after taking the time to click on three dots and delete them….What a waste of time….
gowron says
PSA: Adblock does not block suggested or sponsored facebook posts. Never has, never will. This is a baked in feature of facebook that can’t be addressed by 3rd party. Simply stop using facebook.
Hiltibob says
I am literally seeing more of the Suggested for you posts than my actuals friends posts. I am about to get rid off this app altogether. It is beyond a useless time killer that it always has been. I don’t need to spend what precious time I have to look at this app and navigate through so much to see what I actually want to see.
Sam Vimes says
It’s this very manipulative crap that lead me once before to deactivate my FB account. I came back solely to use marketplace but this BS is driving me to the exact same conclusion. No one needs this nonsense!
Mary says
We want to be able to completely disable all of it. I don’t have time to sit down and keep on snoozing or disabling singular suggestions. Get your sh….! Together Facebook and stop crapping all over our feed. You are absolutely manipulative in your tactics and that’s evil.
John Randall Wilson says
This is just one more reason to quit using fb all together they don’t care what the people want they want to sensor and control everyone.
seasaw says
These suggested for you stuff is not even relevant . I get ones for Moms. I’m not a Mom. , 80’s kids? I was born in 1955! It’s all such crap. They should let us turn it off.
Julie Walker says
These suggested posts are becoming very annoying Facebook!
Its time to leave! Very frustrating! No idea what family and friends are up too ????
Sheri saumers says
Please…please…please allow me to turn off …,Suggested For You…… posts, I’m inundated and their like cockroaches…. you kill (hide) them …… and then get twice as many next time. META is making no bank on them…..PLEASE STOP‼️‼️‼️‼️????????
Lynn Cole says
Please please stop these suggestions l don’t need them. Dont want them and they are an intrusive nuisance. A total waist of my time.
Anne says
The promoted sites are coming in thick and fast lately so I started doing what someone suggested above…..reporting each one as harassment, because that is what it is. By FB no less. I hope everyone does the same.
I can’t find the groups I signed up to. Sickening to say the least. There is no point being on FB if I spend the whole time ‘ hiding’ posts I don’t want nor requested. Same goes for ‘ people you may know’…I used to delete them but now I ignore it. Hate to think how many people are on there now! Sadly this is not possible with all these promoted groups.
Shame on FB. Its abuse and harassment.
Sani says
AS THE WHOLE FB, SO I’M USING IT LESS AND LESS
Peter says
No more bloody suggested for you crap. Just started happening and driving me mad.
CYA Facebook
Leslie says
I’m really frustrated with Suggested For You posts. There are too many to Hide or Snooze. I get rid of 30 only to find even more the next day. They’re like roaches! Please give us an option to eliminate them.
Jerry says
Everything Facebook and Zuckerberg do is geared to their “We know better than you” mentality. I’m so fed up with that attitude, I’m clearing out my activity log and DUMPING them for good. I probably see more spam on my newsfeed than I get in all of my email accounts. This might not be an issue but there is no “How to contact Facebook” anywhere. All I can ever find is links to discussion groups. And if you choose to make a report, they never give you any way to tell them, specifically, why. I have no use for FB any longer. I almost hate to vent here because it seems everything that mentions FB ends up on some web site that invites more spam.
Robert says
Yes get rid of the suggested for you or at least slow down. My God I cannot even go through and see what my friends are doing anymore. I get five suggested for you before I can see anything that I’m doing. Ridiculous.
Gayle Monahan says
When I have to get rid of 160 + gaming suggestions, I think that’s ridiculous!!!!!
Not to mention regular posts. And on most of the posts I can’t even select “Hide All” because it’s not an option, the best I can do is snooze for 30 days. I’m very close to dumping this whole Facebook “ thing”. I never respond to posts, I never post, I never share- and yet I still get all this “crap”. HATE IT!
BB says
New to FB, just set up account at urging of family & friends to post pictures of our upcoming travels out west. I hate it! Within hours I have so many ‘suggestions for you’ that I can’t make heads or tails of what’s going on.
I tried to hide them as suggested, but doesn’t work.
Not a happy camper! Will have to come up with another way to share travels with family. Facebook, please fix this.
Ben says
I wanted to quit facebook for a long time, but it is addictive and could not do it. But now, when every second post is suggestion or add – I am done. Thank you young AI, I am free now.
Christina M says
I despise this feature. I see little of what i want now so am no longer using the app and switching to Instagram. Meta has made a poor choice here.
CC says
95% of my feed is now “suggested for you” posts that I don’t care to see. I don’t even want to use Facebook anymore. If there was an alternative platform, I’d switch to it and stop using FB. On the bright side, I’m sure my time on Facebook has gone down 90% since the change.
Tita says
I barely look at Facebook anymore due to the “Suggested for You” posts. Annoying !!!
Jonny says
Remember when the newsfeed shared information only about things we had chosen to befriend or follow?
Suggested posts is awful. I get them every 3rd item now. Between that and ads I get nothing from friends and pages I actually want to see.
What’s worse is it is now regularly showing me spoilers for my favourite shows because pages I’ve intentionally chosen to not follow just post spoilers all the time – so I’ve not followed them – Facebook/Meta clearly doesn’t care about showing us what we want to see anymore. It’s bullshit.
It’s getting close to being unusable.
Michelle says
I just counted how many posts that were suggested or ads in between my friends posts, I got to 30 before I stopped counting. THIRTY suggested posts or ads in between the posts I actually want to see from my friends and family is utterly ridiculous and I seriously want it to change.
mike says
I expect many will quit using Facebook, because there’s too many Suggested for You… I’m almost there, push me over…
Roy says
I really hate that you can’t disable suggested pages. There are already enough ads getting in the way of my friends’ posts without this nonsense. If I see a friend post from another page, I can already easily check it out. An option to allow suggested pages is fine. The inability to turn it off is remarkably rude.
Ginger K says
Also coming to say users should have the option to disable “suggested posts.” I’m beginning to see more suggested posts than posts from friends and/or groups I have joined. Frustrating.
Tracie says
I totally agree with all of you who dislike the suggested for you ads. It JUST started a couple of days ago, and I HATE IT!! I can’t use it to see stuff I really want. This is crap! Give us the option to turn it off!!!!!
Bob says
Forcing me to hide/delete/suspend the endless stream of “suggested for you” pages will drive me to abandon Facebook once and for all. It is unconscionable not to allow users to make a one-time election not to be forced to receive these intrusions. I want to select what I want to see, and I don’t need you suggesting endless political social and cultural content I don’t appreciate or want to engage with. You should seriously rethink this tactic, as I believe it will likely lead to many people like me abandoning your service entirely. You pushed too hard, Facebook.
Kevin Cooke says
I have to keep FB open all day as posts to some of the groups I moderate for a reuse network go to FB, naturally I scroll through now & then to see what’s happening in other groups I’m in.
I’ve spent half the damn day dealing with suggested page posts, one or two a day would be irritating enough but at least realistic, today I’ve had to deal at least one every fifteen minutes or so.
It wouldn’t be so bad if they were remotely relevant to me, but quite why I’m getting seemingly never ending suggestions for US based Evangelical Christian groups, Truckers groups, US Veterans groups and to put not too fine a point on it extremist right wing nut jobs in desperate need of an introduction to reality, one of these guys even suggested that the presence of troops other than US troops during the Normandy landings was just propaganda, according to him once the US entered WWII the rest of the world just went home!
I’m a sixty year old atheist democratic socialist who live in England, what the hell do I care about ANY of these niche interest groups in the bloody Untied States?
FB need to sort this out as it will drive away groups like ours that generate a LOT of traffic daily, we don’t need to use FB we have our own custom built platform hosted separately, we use it for the convenience, if it becomes a chore our groups and I predict quite few others will be history.
Mike says
I had to cancel through 22 ‘suggested for you’ posts between 2 posts from friends/groups I actively signed up for. Facebook has been helpful for so long, it’s a shame that it’s turning to the old days of clearing a mass of banner ads and pop-ups.
Ricardas says
Absolutely agree can’t see anything because of the ads and suggested posts. Full of rubbish you become FB
Laura says
I’m sick of scrolling. I want to use Facebook for what it should be intended for, seeing family and friend content not suggested posts. Sincerely a 23 year old.
Molly Gordon says
Just here to join other users to tell Facebook to eliminate the Suggested for You posts. It will drive me away from Facebook very soon!!
Penny Pennington says
FB has been flooding my feed with suggested Posts of worldly wisdom, and I have being clicking on hide post, or never see posts from this site again, but they still keep on coming. I don’t know what I liked to start this avalanche, but I sure regret it.
Olof says
“Suggested for You” is very annoying. Wish I had the option to turn it off. Pages and profiles I visited re-appears. PLEASE give us users the option to turn it off.
Sasha barac says
Suggested to you is very, very annoying and I m not going to use fb any more until such time I can disable it myself
Tim Bradley says
I have now started reporting every ” suggested for you” posts as harassment. If we flood Facebook with work that requires review and report maybe they will get the message
Bob says
No. Just stop sending all this “ bs”
Steve Granger says
Facebook has taken Ads one step to far. Now they have taken total control on what you see and read. The choice of content you see has been taken away from you. Suggested is just their way of saying here’s an Ad that you cannot do anything about. Well you can, stop using FB.
Em says
This feature is fast making me want to leave Facebook, I no longer see my friends posts just endless page suggestions I don’t want and didn’t ask for on my feed.
Vincent says
I’ts almost impossible to see my friends posts, the feed is filled with suggestions and ads, so most of us have stopped using Facebook for sharing stuff. We use WhatsApp groups, Instagram and other platforms.
Facebook has become unusable.
Juan Carlos Rodriguez says
This is Meta´s technocratic mind control scheme. Twitter went the same route recently (started “suggesting” you topics and tweets). Is not a “suggestion” is called pushing and propaganda. What is most infuriating is all this platforms manipulate people with the same language, for example they say “this features helps you discover” or the uber-popular “this update fixes some security problems”. Is always about security, surveillance, control.
Craig says
since joining a Florida Wildlife Group I am getting lots of suggested sites about animals from all over the world and lots of bird sites. I am not really even a bird fan and dont want to see sites from Africa and individual photographer. I f I did I would seek them out. Please stop the constant addition of these sites or let us turn them off globally.
Mel says
Every second or third post is a “suggested” or “sponsored” and I am on here to see what new platform others are considering???? I have already begun moving over to Twitter
There is a lot of offensive content being displayed I think the age rating for facebook needs to be raised it is displaying content that is illegal on timelines that dont have engagement or intertest in these fields. The rate of content and the content itself make it abusive to operate in such a manner. Change your name to reflect your business model Abusebook
Eric Uren says
This is disgusting that this feature can’t be switched off. I am so close to coming off Facebook.
Katrina says
I hate it. Most of my feed is now alternating between suggestions and sponsored content. Things I actually follow or people I want to see are only dotted between all the crap I didn’t ask for.
This will make me start to use the app less because I’m not interested in most of the content being forced on me
Wendy Gough says
I’ve been inundated with these blasted things today – why on earth can’t we stop this rubbish.
Maz says
Driving me mad, i want just my friends posts and pages i liked, not this suggested nonsense. Some of the suggestions are ludicrous! Others its 20 pages on the same subject, i dont need it!
Gary J says
I am sick and tired of seeing posts I don’t want to see!!!!!!!
unhappy face says
suggested posts are very annoying, getting 3-4 every day with unwanted political themes
Jennifer says
Fb is mind control
Pat Paine Nelson says
I am getting 15 to 20 suggested posts in a row! This is out of hand!!
Margaret says
Yes get rid of suggestions. I use facebook to simply keep in touch with friends and family not to get my news or anything else. If I want more I and I alone will get more!
Bill Zumwalt says
Suggested for you posts take space from my friends trying to post!!!! I thought Facebook was initially about connecting with people not ads suggested by Facebook! Too Much!!!
Joy Dalgleish says
I agree with what everybody is saying about these unwanted posts. If I am successful in hiding them they just come back the next day. Ive tried everything and nothing works
Janette says
PLEASE LET US DISABLE ALL SUGGESTED PAGES!! This is a terrible time wasting, diabolical move that you blocked us form disabling suggested pages. It is way too time consuming and will make me drop Facebook altogether. I am begging you! Please allow us to edit the setting to disable similar page suggestions. if you do not do this, you will put yourself out of business.
Rev. Michael Mueller says
PLEEEEESE include an option to stop the continual suggested pages. You are killing your users, who will someday stop using this
JL says
The suggested posts and videos are increasing daily. They are so distracting that I’ve been using Facebook less and I’m inclined to stop looking at it altogether. I only want to see my friends’ posts when I use Facebook.
Paul Landsberg says
I should be able to stop all “suggested for you ” posts. Its a pain to delete 10 or so posts before I can use Facebook
d says
There should be a “disable/enable suggested posts/reels/videos” option – let users decide.
Hikerjames says
I think everyone should have an option to delete suggested for you posts permanently. It drives me nuts. Every time I refresh my page I get a bunch of new ones that I have to click on not see anymore. Very aggravating.
Betty says
I use Facebook to keep up with friends and family. I have zero interest in being served content not posted them and me. Suggested posts, reels, and so forth make it practically impossible to enjoy Facebook as I intend to use it. It should be possible to disable these undesirable features.
Lily says
These suggested for you posts are driving me to stop using FB. I click more options, click see less of it, and I still get the same post every single day. I don’t know how to stop it. Hide all is never an option.
Peter Platt says
Your instructions for changing the settings is not correct (the option doesn’t exist), you need to update the article. I can’t understand why I get so many foreign language suggestions (I have no idea what they are about) or suggestions for overseas legal firms when I’m UK based.
These suggestions are actually driving me away from Facebook, as I can’t control what is suggested, rather than make me stay longer. Dropped back there, Facebook!
Julian Nortoft says
The “More Options (three dots)” does not appear in Facebook “Suggested Page” posts. There is nothing to clickor select to edit, limit, or voice an opinion.
