Whenever you’re shopping online, and you want to order something to be delivered, you need to enter your address. Many sites save this for you if you have an account and have ordered from them before. When you’re using a new online shopping site for the first time, however, you generally have to type in your address manually.
One of the extra quality-of-life features that most browsers offer is the ability to autofill forms. The Edge browser for Android specifically has a setting allowing you to add one or more addresses to the autofill settings. This can be particularly helpful if you occasionally help people out by ordering things online to be delivered to their home. With your browser configured to remember the addresses you regularly use; you don’t need to worry about accidentally forgetting an address or making a typo.
How to add an address
To save an address to Edge’s autofill you need to go into the in-app settings. To access the settings, you need to first tap the triple-dot icon in the center of the bottom bar.
You can then open the in-app settings by tapping “Settings” in the top-right corner of the popup pane.
In the settings, tap “Autofill and payments”, which will be the third option from the top.
Next, tap “Addresses and more” to configure your saved addresses.
Tip: For autofill to work, ensure that “Autofill forms” is enabled on this page.
On this page, you can see all of your currently saved addresses. To add a new address, tap the blue plus-sign icon labelled “Add address”.
There are six mandatory address fields and one optional one, although the exact layout may vary depending on your country.
First, you need to select the country, then enter a name, road name and house number, town, postcode, and a contact phone number. You can also choose to add an email address if you want to include that too.
Tap “Done” in the bottom-right corner to save the address.
Tip: If you want to delete an existing address tap on it in the list of saved addresses, then tap the trash icon in the top right corner.
