Dropbox: How to Change Your Profile Icon Picture

Dropbox: How to Change Your Profile Icon Picture

Posted on February 22, 2021 by Mel Hawthorne Leave a Comment

One thing you can do to personalize your Dropbox account is to add a custom profile icon picture. While this may not sound like an important feature – and for many people, it won’t be – it can be a nice little extra customization feature.

Obviously, you are the main person that can see your profile icon. Your profile icon is also visible when dealing with other users. For example, if you make a file request or work on a shared document or folder, the other users can see your details.

This is especially important to remember if you ever use your personal Dropbox account to communicate with work colleagues or clients. What may be fine for you personally or funny with your friends may not be appropriate at work.

How to Change Your Profile Picture on Dropbox

To be able to change your profile picture, you need to go into your personal account settings. To do so, sign in to the Dropbox website, then click on your profile icon in the top-right corner and click “Settings.”

Once you’re in the default “General” settings tab, click “Edit” for the top option, titled “Photo.”

In your account settings, click on “Edit” for the top options, labeled “Photo.”

In the profile icon upload popup, you can choose to drag and drop the image you want to use. Alternatively, click to select the image you want to use, or you can select an image from your Dropbox account.

Tip: Be aware that the Dropbox profile icon is circular in shape. Your photo will be cropped to fit, with the center of the image being the center of the icon. You will not be able to adjust the image, only select another one.

Either select an image from your hard drive or from your Dropbox storage.

Custom profile icon pictures can be a nice little customization option on any platform. By following the steps in this guide, you can change your profile icon in Dropbox.
