The touch screen interface of a modern smartphone is generally really intuitive to use. Scrolling through webpages is easy by just swiping up and down. When the weather gets colder though, you may want to put on some gloves when you’re outside. Some gloves come specifically designed to work with touch screen devices. If you’re using a pair of gloves that don’t work with touchscreens though, it can be difficult, or chilly, to use your phone when outside.
The Dolphin browser on Android has a feature that can help you out in this situation. You can configure the volume buttons on your phone to scroll the webpage or to switch tabs for you, rather than change the volume.
To configure the behavior of the volume keys in the Dolphin browser, you need to go into the in-app settings. To do so, you first need to tap the Dolphin icon in the center of the bottom bar.
Next, to open the settings, tap the cogwheel icon in the bottom-right corner of the popup pane.
Switch to the “Advanced” tab in the top-right, then tap “More” at the bottom of the “Customize” sub-section.
Next, you need to tap “Volume button action”, found second from the bottom, to configure the behavior of the volume buttons.
You can choose from three different behaviours. “Default Android action” will keep the volume buttons acting as default. “Scroll up/down page” will configure the volume buttons to scroll up and down the page you’re on. “Switch tabs” will configure the volume buttons to switch through your open tabs.
Simply tap the behaviour you want to configure, and it will be instantly saved.
