What Are DAA Files?

What Are DAA Files?

Posted on January 2, 2020 by Mel Hawthorne Leave a Comment

A file with the extension DAA is a Direct Access Archive file. DAA is a proprietary disk image file format, from the developers of the disk imaging software PowerISO. Unlike the popular disk image format ISO, DAA files can be compressed and split into multiple smaller volumes. DAA files can also be encrypted and password-protected, to protect the sensitive data they may contain. Compressed DAA files do not need to be decompressed before being extracted, mounted and edited.

How can you open DAA files?

Most virtual disk mounting tools are able to mount or burn DAA files. Some zipping tools should be able to open DAA files without having to mount or burn the disk image. Conversion tools exist to convert DAA disk images into ISO images.

What programs work with DAA files?

PowerISO is the official tool to open, create, burn and mount DAA files. Pismo File Mount Audit Package, AcetoneISO, MagicISO and UltraISO can all mount and may be able to burn DAA images. DAA2ISO and DAA Converter are Windows and MacOS tools respectively to convert DAA files into ISO disk images.
