How to Create and Share a Spotify Playlist

Posted on September 24, 2019 by Judy Sanhz Leave a Comment

Having the right music for the right occasion is essential. But, that can easily be corrected by creating a Spotify playlist for the gym, home, and other situations. The good news is that creating a Spotify playlist is beginner-friendly and doesn’t take long.

Sharing your Spotify playlist is also easy, as well as moving around the order of the songs. With a few clicks here and there, you can create as many playlists as you want.

How to Create a Spotify Playlist on Android

To create a playlist, go the app’s Your Library tab at the bottom, the Create playlist option will be the first one at the top.

Spotify will give you the chance of adding a name to your playlist. If you don’t want to name your playlist, you’ll see an option to skip this step. But, by naming your playlist, you give Spotify the chance to recommend songs for you. For example, you call your playlist Happy, Spotify will only recommend songs that it thinks will cheer you up.

After completing these steps, your playlist will be a thing of the past, and it will be time to add some songs to your newly created playlist.

Tap on the Add Songs button and Spotify will show you suggested songs it thinks you might like to add. If you see one that you like, tap on the plus sign to the right.

By swiping right, you will see more suggested music for different genres. To avoid adding a song you’re not going to like, you can hear a preview of the song by tapping on the play icon.

If you don’t see any song you want to add, you can use the search bar to search for more music options. Keep in mind that as soon as you add a song, the options seen in the image above will disappear. But, not to worry since Spotify will still show you Recommended Songs right below your newly added song.

How to Create a Spotify Playlist on Desktop

Creating a playlist for Spotify on your desktop requires fewer steps than on your Android device. As soon as Spotify launches, the Create Playlist option will be on your left side.

Click on New Playlist and add an image, title, and description to your new playlist. The recommended songs will be at the bottom, and when you find a song you like, click on the Add button to the left of the song title.

How to Make a Spotify Playlist on iOS

To create a Spotify playlist on iOS, launch Spotify, and go to the Your Library tab. It’ll be the third one to the right at the bottom. Tap on the Create playlist option, name your playlist, and tap on create.

Unlike Spotify on Windows, you don’t get to add an image to your new playlist. The album cover of the first song you add will likely be the image for your playlist. Just like on the other platforms, there will be Recommended songs at the bottom. Swipe up to look through them and when you find a song you like, tap on the plus symbol to the right.

How to Edit a Spotify Playlist on Android

Now that you’ve created your playlist, it’s time to know how to edit it if you ever needed to. Tap on the three dots at the top right and select the Edit option.

When editing your playlists, you can do things such as alter the order of the songs. To do that, tap on the three lines to the right and without letting go, slide the song to its new position. By tapping on the minus option, you can remove a song from the playlist.

How to Edit a Spotify Playlist on iOS

Editing a Spotify playlist is just as easy on iOS. Go to the playlist you want to edit and tap on the three horizontal lines at the top right. Tap on the Edit option, and you’ll see all the songs you added to your playlist in the order you added them.

To modify the song order, tap and hold on the three lines to the right and place the song in the order you want it to play. To remove a song from the playlist, tap on the minus symbol.

Conclusion

Regardless of the platforms, you’re on, creating and editing a playlist on Spotify is an easy task. It’s quick and easy. How many playlists will you be creating? Let me know in the comments below.
