Chrome: Add/Remove User Accounts

Chrome: Add/Remove User Accounts

By Mel Hawthorne Leave a Comment

Chrome is indubitably one of the most popular browsers in the world – if you share your Chrome with someone else, and you want to keep multiple accounts saved there, you can do so with just a few clicks.

To add another user account, all you need to do is open a Chrome window and click on the user icon in the top right corner – your profile picture. For this to work, you will need to be signed in. Make sure you are actually clicking on the Chrome account image, and not, for example, your Facebook account one if you are on a site like that.

Under Other People, you can add additional accounts. You’ll have to log in the way you did your main account. You also have the option to switch to a guest account if you want. Once you are logged into all of the relevant accounts, you can switch between them in the same place – by clicking on the profile picture and selecting the account you want.

Other People section in your browser.

In order to remove an account, click the little cogwheel in the people section. A second window will open up where you can see all the accounts that are logged into the browser. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the account you want to remove and select “Remove this Person”.

You can add accounts back if you remove them by accident, but you will have to log back into it before you can switch to it.

Tip: Don’t leave your account logged in permanently on shared or public computers – you never know who might gain access to it. Although it’s less convenient, always log out and back in to stay safe!
