Bitwarden: How to View the Full Details of an Entry

Posted on April 22, 2021 by Mel Hawthorne Leave a Comment

Password managers are primarily intended to securely save your login credentials for each website, service, and application you use. They’re great at this job, but they also offer a host of other useful features too. For example, if you use the browser extension offered by your password manager, you can make use of auto-fill. This automatically detects login forms for which you already have credentials and automatically fills them ready for you to just hit the sign-in button to confirm.

Many password managers, such as Bitwarden, allow you to save extra information with your login credentials. For example, Bitwarden offers a notes section to add any extra details you want to include, such as account recovery tokens or answers to security questions. You can also choose to add entirely custom fields that can then even be used as part of the auto-fill process.

If you ever need these details, you need to know how to find them. Bitwarden offers several shortcuts to copy details like the username and password. To see these extra details, however, you need to open the full entry.

How to View the Full Entry Details in the Bitwarden Browser Extension

There are two ways to access the full details of an entry, depending on where you are in the browser extension. If you’re looking at results from the search function or browsing the “My vault” tab, you can open the full details of an entry simply by clicking on it.

In the search function or the “My vault” tab, simply click on an entry to see its full details.

However, if you’re in the default “Tab” tab, clicking on an entry attempts to auto-fill it in the open web page. To view the full entry, you need to click on the left most of the four icons on the right-hand side of the entry.

In the default “Tab” tab, click on the “View” icon, which is the left most of the four icons on the right.

How to View the Full Entry Details in the Bitwarden Web Vault

Viewing the full details of a vault entry is simple in the Bitwarden web vault. To do so, you just need to click on the title of an entry in the default “My vault” tab.

Click on the entry title in the default “My vault” tab to see the full entry details.

If you save extra details with an entry, you may occasionally want to see them. You can only do so by viewing the full entry details. By following the steps in this guide, you can view the full details of any entry in your Bitwarden vault.
