One of the useful features that many password managers offer is saving credentials for accounts when you sign in. Generally, this feature is reliable if you’re using your password manager’s browser extension, although not all offer one. This feature will often save you from manually adding the account details into your password manager, saving you the time and effort of doing it manually.
Occasionally, you may have an issue where you have to enter a set of account credentials into your vault manually. If you’re using Bitwarden, there are a few ways you can do this. There are two easy ways you can do this in the browser extension and another if you prefer to use the website instead.
How to Add a Set of Credentials to Your Vault
If you’re using the browser extension and are in a tab for which you do not currently have any credentials saved, you can add a set by clicking “Add a login,” where your saved logins would normally be found. If this option isn’t visible because you have one or more saved sets of credentials, you can always add a new set by clicking the add icon in the top-right corner of the extension panel.
If you prefer not to use the browser extension and use the website instead, you can click ”Add item” on the top-right of the main page to add a set of credentials to your vault.
In the “Add item” screen, you need to enter the new credentials you want to save. The only field you need to fill out has the labeled “Name”; everything else is optional. The name field gives each entry a unique human-readable name to make it visibly distinct and easy to find in a list of other entries. Once you’ve added the details you want to save, click “Save,” which is in the top-right of the browser extension panel or the bottom left of the form on Bitwarden’s website.
Occasionally when using a password manager, you may want to add a new set of credentials manually. By following the guide’s steps, you can manually add an entry to your Bitwarden password manager.
