Back to Top Requesting Access to Monday.com Board

Posted on May 4, 2020 by Mona Leave a Comment

Monday.com is a great platform to organize your workplace. Gaining access to the board is the key to interacting with the platform and once you’ve done that a whole world of possibilities awaits you.

Assigning Client Folders

You can always access the meeting as a guest, but first you need permission. This can be done by creating folders which are assigned to the clients. Shareable boards are available to anyone within the particular project that is going on at the time. This helps to limit the amount of information which the clients are able to access which is vital if companies want to keep their information confidential. A good idea is to create a management board which oversees all the other boards that the company is running.

Requesting Access

Requesting access should be the task of the administrator of each board but at the moment once a client or user is inside the board they have permission to access everything that is within it. Perhaps in the future Monday.com could improve their platform by having levels of access within each board. This would certainly be an advanced feature but it wouldn’t be an impossible thing for them to do at this point. Perhaps by creating multiple boards this problem could be solved but it could quickly run the risk of becoming confusing and overwhelming to administer?

How to Become a Guest

In order to become a guest the following steps must be taken. First of all the administrator must be contacted. The relevant board is then sent to the guest. After that the guest should press on the ‘’Guest and Subscriber’’ button in the top right side of the board. On the left side existing team members may also be invited into the board. This should be done for each team member individually to make sure that they do have access otherwise the board will be hidden from them. By typing in their email address and then clicking on ‘’Invite’’ then this should be able to do the job.

Replying Through Email

The prospective guest should then receive an invitation in their email inbox. They then reply to this email and they’re in. It is important to remember that they’re only allowed to be on boards that they’re specifically invited to. They can have access to their very own inbox, a tool called My Week and all the boards which they’ve been allowed on. This ought to maintain security and make communicating the relevant piece of information to the right person at the right time much easier. This will improve the performance because communication is the key.

Monday.com Mistakes

Often communication devices and platforms are misused by companies. There are 2 mistakes that are quite common. One of them is called ‘’Paralysis by Analysis.’’ This is when too much irrelevant information is shared with no particular purpose in mind. Far too much irrelevant information can make anyone overwhelmed. The reason why mistakes happen is because people are inundated with too much junk. They don’t pay attention to the issues that they need to pay attention to.

The second mistake happens when leaders and managers bury themselves in irrelevant details, becoming redundant. Any technology must be wisely used and if there is a great amount of information being transferred  then communications can become jammed if a clear chain of command is not established early on.

Monday.com is a great platform. It’s probably the best one for companies to use at this stage. As always some time should be devoted to becoming familiar with the platform. The goal of communication is to be understood and this platform certainly goes a long way to fulfilling that laudable objective.
