Adding Owner License to MS Word Mobile

Adding Owner License to MS Word Mobile

Posted on October 27, 2020 by Mona Leave a Comment

MS Word is a standard word processing system that has become a virtual staple in all professional and hobbyist settings. Because of its widespread popularity, developers have made it available to smartphone users running Android or iOS.

The free version gives you the very basics of Microsoft Word, which are quite convenient! “Free” does not always mean “lacking.” However, if you want to experience the full features of the MS Word mobile application, you can activate your Microsoft 365 subscription by adding your owner’s license.

Microsoft 365 Subscription Features

If you don’t have a Microsoft 365 subscription, you may want to consider signing up for one. This is especially helpful for those working on the go and reviewing work.

These premium features include:

  • Track changes
  • Document layout formatting
  • Chart modifications

The subscription will also allow you to access your work from any device from cloud storage.

Adding a New or Existing License

Adding a new or existing license to your MS Word app is easy. If you are using an Android, first download and install the MS Word app from the Google Play store. iPhone users can head over to the App store.

Create/Sign in to Your Microsoft Account

When you first open the application, the program will prompt you to sign in to your Microsft account. You can always create one for free using your username, email, or phone number. Don’t worry. You won’t have to navigate away from the app. It will take you through the process step-by-step.

But having a Microsoft account does not get you the Microsoft 365 subscription. If you do not have a subscription, then you will have to purchase one. You can purchase these subscriptions straight from the application itself. If you already have a license, you will sign into the existing subscription from the purchasing page.

Once you have created an account, you will be asked if you want to sign up for premium access. Select ‘yes’ to purchase and to sign into a subscription.

Purchasing a License

Specific licenses are required for some devices to use MS Word’s premium features. You should not experience any of those issues with the mobile app. Both of the subscription choices offered on the purchasing screen will work without a hitch. The only time you may run into an issue is if you exceed usage limits.

Your two plan options are:

  • Microsoft 365 Personal $6.99/mo. Grants one person access to premium features.
  • Microsoft 365 Family $9.99/mo. Grants up to six people access to premium features.

Both plans include a free month. To make a successful purchase, select a plan by tapping on it. You will then be prompted to create a password and provide your email.

An email will be sent to the one you provided with a verification code. Enter the code, and you will then be asked to provide payment. MS Word will add then add and configure your subscription to the device you are currently using.

Adding a License to an Existing MS Word Mobile App

If you want to add a license to an already downloaded MS Word app, you can! This is particularly useful for shared devices and users who only have the 365 Personal plan.

  1. Tap the avatar in the top left-hand corner.
  2. Under the account that is currently signed, it will be an option to add an account. Tap on the plus (+) sign.
  3. Follow the usual login instructions. If you have a subscription, it should be activated when you log in.

If you need to make a subscription purchase under this account, tap on the account email’s Manage Account. You will be redirected to the Microsoft Account webpage. There, you can add, remove, or upgrade subscriptions as you please.

Conclusion

For the writer or student on the go, MS Word for your mobile phone is a must-have. If you want to reap the full benefits of the application, be sure to add your license — which is as easy as signing in! If you don’t have a license, purchasing a subscription is certainly a smart investment to make.
