Add a New WhatsApp Contact Using Your Custom QR Code

Add a New WhatsApp Contact Using Your Custom QR Code

July 23, 2020 by Judy Sanhz 1 Comment

There are different ways to add a new contact to your WhatsApp list. For example, when you ask a friend for someone else’s number, you just tap on the add contact option.

But, when you meet someone new, you have to go through the process of adding their name and number manually into the contact list. But, thanks to WhatsApp’s QR code, there’s a faster way.

How to Use WhatsApp QR Code to Add a New Contact

To add a contact using the WhatsApp QR code, open the app and tap on the contact list icon at the bottom right. At the top to the right of the New Contact option, you’ll see a QR code icon.

Tap on the icon, and WhatsApp will switch to the QR scanner so you can copy your new friend’s QR code. Once you scan the code, all the information will be added, such as name and number.

All you have to do to save the contact is tap on the save option. That’s it! It’s that simple to add a new contact instantly. You can also scan the QR code by tapping on the camera icon at the top left, to the left of the Chats tab when you first open WhatsApp.

It’s also possible to scan a QR code from an image in the gallery. Go to the individual chat or group chat and tap on the camera icon. Look for the image with the QR code and choose the App option.

How to Access Your Personal WhatsApp QR Code

Each WhatsApp user has their own QR code for someone to scan, there’s no need to create your own. To access your personal QR code, tap on the contact list icon on the main page, and tap on New Contact.

When the scanner opens, it will open in the Scan Code tab, to the left, you’ll see the My Code tab. Tap on it to view your QR code.

A second way you can access your QR code is by tapping on the More Option dots at the top right. Go to Settings, and to the right of your name, you’ll see the QR code you’ll need to tap to see your personal code.

How to Share the WhatsApp QR Code

To send your WhatsApp QR code, tap on the More Options dots, and go to Settings. Tap on the QR icon to the right of your name and choose the share icon.

Choose the contact you want to share the code with. You’ll also have the option to crop the QR code and add text in the text field. If you change your mind and want to erase the changes you made to the code, you can always tap on the back option.

Be careful who you sent our WhatsApp QR code with because if that code is sent to someone else, that other person can add you add a contact by scanning the code in the image they received.

How to Reset Your WhatsApp QR Code

For security reasons, you may want to reset your WhatsApp QR code from time to time. To do this, open WhatsApp and tap on the More Options dots.

Go to Settings and tap on the QR code to the side of your name. Tap on the More dots at the top right, choose Reset QR code, and the Rest option to finish things off.

Conclusion

Adding a new contact by merely scanning a QR code is very convenient. It sure saves you some valuable time, especially when you’re in a hurry. What are your thoughts about the QR code?
