Acer Aspire C24-865-A Ci5 NT Review

Acer Aspire C24-865-A Ci5 NT Review

Posted on June 24, 2019 by Mona Leave a Comment

If you are looking to spend close to $1,000 on an AIO desktop, then you definitely have a wide range of high-quality machine to select from. In the 23-inch display category, almost all PC makers have something astonishing to deliver for the hefty price. That being said, Acer has decided to roll out the Aspire C24-865-ACi5NT AIO desktop which is competitively priced and takes that battle to a whole new level.

It has a display that is amazingly thin, from the bezels to the borders and even the casing. With a measurement of just about 0.5 inches of thickness, it can pass as a desktop for gaming, having a case that holds the mouse and keyboard just below the display. All these with a price that is certainly affordable which makes it superb value for an all-in-one desktop.

The Acer Aspire C24-865-ACi5NT AIO desktop that we would be reviewing comes with an Intel Core i5-8250U processor, 12GB of RAM, and 1TB hard drive. If you are on a budget, then the Aspire C24 is going to be the right choice for you considering the specs it has and at a relatively affordable cost.

Before you make up your mind on an AIO desktop to buy, this review is one to look into to help you decide.

Design

The Aspire C24 sports a very simple yet practical design, with the Intel Core i5-8250U processor and an integrated graphics processor that are mostly used on ultraportable laptops, the incredibly thin profile on this desktop is justified. AIO Pc makers are now packing powerful and sturdy components into thin systems. What we have here is a system with 12GB of RAM and a fascinating 23.8-inch full HD (1920 by 1080) display.

It has a magnificent yet amazingly thin bezel on the top and sides up to a point that you can hardly see it when looking at it from across the room. The bottom bezel is relatively wider than the one of the top and sides, with a silver highlight that matches the stand that joins the display to the base of the Aspire C24.

Acer has tweaked the stand into something that is eye-catching, with a hinge linking the back of the screen to the base arm, you can now rotate the screen slightly to an angle of 45 degrees. Although it doesn’t allow height and swivel adjustments, the amount of adjustments it offers is definitely okay. It also offers a vantage point when placed on a surface; either a kitchen counter or an office desk. The Acer Aspire 24 lacks a VESA mount which makes switching to a third-party stand a very tough task.

Display

The Acer Aspire C24 has a screen quality that is relatively average, but considering the price; it is acceptable. It comes with a non-gloss display and a base model of 1080p which looks great. The incredibly thin bezels provide the full HD with a delightful look, with a clear, sharp, and accurate image that is the exact nature of the content being displayed.

The display is outstanding when you use it to either scroll through pictures or when watching a movie whereby its accurate picture is sufficient for an incredibly delightful picture. Gaming also looks nice, but, the screen’s moderate contrast restrict darker titles.

The Acer Aspire C24 lacks a 4k option and also touch screen, which may not go down well with some customers, if these two features were to be added, most customers wouldn’t mind buying the Aspire C24 for a relatively higher price because a display that looks as good as the surrounding pixels is definitely worth it. If you are going to be using the Aspire C24 in your home or office, you don’t really need a touch screen.

Connectivity

The Acer Aspire C24 lacks webcam, and this is due to the fact that the borders are so thin. If you still want to make use of a webcam, you can attach an external one to one of the USB ports but it doesn’t allow you to take exceptionally good pictures or videos.

Like all AIO PCs, the Aspire C24’s features are all located on the back. The stand out feature is in-built speakers and a pair of USB 2.0 points located on the upper-back panel which makes it relatively easier to connect an external webcam.

Located on the back panel, right next to the stand-dock is an additional pair of USB 3.1 port, an HDMI-out port and a Gigabit Ethernet port as a substitute for the in-built 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.3 as well.

Another feature which the Acer Aspire lacks is the addition of an optical drive and this is also due to the fact that it has a thin profile; so you would have to use an external DVD drive. The package also comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Performance

The Acer Aspire has an 8th-generation Intel Core i5-8250U processor that provides efficiency when carrying out most day-to-day tasks, which is expected of a desktop PC of this caliber.

The 12GB of RAM and the newer chip would be sufficient for all the common activities you would perform on this system; which includes word and spreadsheet processing, surfing the web and other daily computing tasks.

It makes use of a 1TB hard drive which is a factor for problems like slow startup times, sluggish switching between apps, and the occasional freezing of Windows interface animations. It would have been better if a solid state drive (SSD) was used.

Pros and Cons

While it is certain that the Acer Aspire C24-865-ACi5NT is a good computer, you will need to assess all of the specs and some of the drawbacks of the model. Being better informed will ensure that you don’t miss any dealbreakers that you might have, which would make this a much more satisfying purchase.

Pros

– A sleek and elegant display
– Very affordable

Cons

– Lack of touch screen option
– Slow storage option
– Lack of 4k display option

Final Verdict

The Acer Aspire C24-865-ACi5NT stand out feature is its delightful and beautiful display. If you are looking for an exquisite all-in-one desktop for an affordable price, then this system is one you should look into.

The Acer Aspire C24 is definitely the right pick for users that want versatility and don’t really care about a discrete graphics card.
