XP: Start Program at a Specific Time

My boss tends to judge when employees have arrived at work by when they make it into GoogleTalk. Since I am late all the time, I’m going to setup GoogleTalk to start every weekday morning at 8:00am. Here’s how I did it.

1. Click Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Scheduled Tasks. This screen will appear. Click Next.

Scheduled Tasks wizard starts

2. Select the program you want to schedule to be launched. Click Next.

Select program

3. Select how often you wish this program to be launched. Click Next.

Give name and how often you wish the task to be run.

3. Select the time, which days and the start date you wish the program to start. Click Next.

Select specific time and how often.

4. Enter your Windows XP login password 2 times. Click Next.

Enter username password.

5. Click Finish.

Summary

6. Your task is now scheduled.

Task created in Scheduled Tasks.

Hmm, not sure if I’d announce something like that on the internet! These things have a way of finding their way back to bosses. Also, you might want to find a way to randomize the start time slightly. He could catch on if you’re dead on 8am every day.
