Posted on Nov 18, 2007 under Internet Explorer Tips, Windows Tips |You get a message “Validation Incomplete: Unable to Perform Validation[0x80080299]” when trying to run Windows Update. Follow these directions to solve this problem:
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click TOOLS –> MANAGE ADD-ONS then find Windows Genuine Advantage ActiveX Control and set it to ENABLE.
If the setting is only allowed to be changed by administrators, then you must go to your C:\windows\system32 and DELETE the LegitCheckControl.dll
Then go to Windows Update and revalidate. That will reload the DLL file correctly.
