Why is Yahoo Still Trying to Charge for Services?
Posted on Nov 26, 2007 under Blog |I am currently in the process of migrating everything over to my Gmail account. I’ve had Yahoo Mail for so long that it’s been difficult to ensure I still get all the email I need. It’s a crime that I even have to move my email, because Yahoo just doesn’t get how to compete with Gmail or anybody for that matter.
Things have changed Yahoo! You know, Gmail has been offering free email services that include a pretty good spam detector, POP access, large file attachments, and no ads within my email.
I can’t for the life of me understand why you are trying to charge $19.99 a year for these services. Yeah, I mean, it’s only $20, but I shouldn’t have to pay to not have ads embedded in my email messages every time I send something. And POP access? Is that so hard and difficult to enable for a user that you have to charge for it? Bottom line, I can get it free elsewhere. Consumers are not stupid. They usually figure out when they don’t have to pay for stuff.
Google is blowing you off the map Yahoo! Ebay has gotten you too since you have closed down your auction site. I think the only thing you have going for you right now is Yahoo! Answers, and since I’m not a 16 year old that wants to learn how to kiss, I’m really not interested in that very much.
