Verizon: Receiving Text Message Duplicates

A friend of mine expressed a problem with his Motorola Droid where upon traveling to Chicago, his phone could not make outbound calls. He also would receive text message duplicates several times. I expressed that I had the same issue with a previous Verizon phone I owned. What helped me was updating the local tower data on my phone.

Just dial *228 and select option 2. Listen and wait for the process to be completed.

I recommend you do this every 6 months, or whenever you travel over 300 miles.
