It looks like there are a bunch of iPod Touch users that keep getting a screen prompting them for a January Upgrade. When clicking on No Thanks or Remind me later they get an error:
An error occurred. The iTunes store could not process your request.
Then the message won’t go away.
Here are some steps to try for this issue:
1. Unplug the iPod Touch and disconnect the computer from the Internet.
2. Close iTunes.
3. Wait a few seconds and Re-Connect the iPod Touch.
4. Start iTunes.
5. When prompted with the message, click Remind me later or No Thanks, then OK then quickly click the X button at the top to stop loading iTunes shop.
6. Close iTunes and reconnect to the Internet.
7. Start iTunes.

I’ve received a couple of questions regarding some older tutorials regarding the iPhone tab being missing from the iTunes Preferences screen. The reason is newer version of iTunes have removed the tab. The iPhone tab has been replaced. Now you can access the iPhone options by simply selecting it on the left panel of iTunes and then clicking the Info button toward the top of the Window.

iTunes has a feature that allows you to merge tracks from a CD. This will create a single track for 2 songs that will play without the pause in between the tracks. Please note that this can only be performed on songs from a CD before you import them into iTunes.
Note: These steps are for iTunes for Windows.
1. Click the CD on the left side.
2. Click on one of the tracks you wish to merge, then hold down the CTRL key and select the other song.
3. Click Advanced > Join CD Tracks.
4. Now you can import your CD into iTunes. The tracks you selected will be merged.

Need to extract the music files off of your iPod to your PC? I located a handy tool that will take all of the music files from your iPod and convert them into MP3 format. It will also copy your video files as well.
The tool is called iPodExtract. I prefer it because it has a very simple interface. Just select your iPod drive, then select where you want the files to go. Please note that the iPod must be enabled as a hard drive before using this tool.

How to share your iTunes music list to other users on your network.
1. In iTunes click Edit > Preferences.
2. Click the Sharing tab.
3. Check the box to Share my library on my local network. You can also restrict music sharing to selected playlists or password protect your music by checking Require password: and typing in a password.

If you’re doing this at your office, you may want to reconsider. Music sharing can be very “chatty” over the network, and system administrators hate it. As for me, it’s worth the risk to allow my co-workers to listen to my Micheal Bolton tunes.

How to make iTunes your default player for mp3, wav or almost any type of audio files.
1. In iTunes, click Edit > Preferences.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Click the General tab that is located in the Advanced section.
4. Check the box for Use iTunes as the default player for all audio files. Click OK.

There have been a few times when Winamp has been the default player, and this box was checked anyway. I would have to uncheck the box and then recheck it and click OK to make this change.
With this setting enabled, iTunes should play all audio files it supports from now on.

1. In iTunes, click Edit > Preferences.
2. Under the General tab you can select Large for the option for Song Text. You can also do the same thing for Source Text to enlarge the text on the side bar.

Dear Apple,
I was using iTunes today and found a song by Enrique Iglesias. Oh how I wanted to hear his lyrical mastery in the song Don’t Turn Out the Lights. However when I double-clicked the song, the classic exclamation mark appeared to tell me the song has somehow disappeared. My heart was so broken. I was so ready to lip sync to the song in my whitey tighties.
To prevent this from happening again, I have searched high and low for a solution to rid myself of songs that do not exist on my hard drive anymore, but still appear on my iTunes library list. This doesn’t appear to be a feature of your software at all.
When you find the time, do you think you can add a Rebuild Music Index feature or an option to remove songs that don’t exist into your software or something? Otherwise I will be forever cursed with having over 500 songs listed in iTunes that don’t exist because there is no way to sort them and delete them all at once.

Sincerely,
Mitch

P.S. I chose to provide you a photo of my screen instead of me in my whitey tighties as I had intended. Let me know if you would like to see that instead.

How to deauthorize computers in iTunes.
You can only have 5 computers authorized to listen to your purchased music at a time in iTunes. Eventually, you might have to deauthorize one or more of them so that you can add another computer. Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t give you a way to manage which computers to keep authorized once the computer doesn’t exist anymore. You have to deauthorize them all at once and then manually reauthorize them one by one.
Here’s how you deauthorize all of your computers in iTunes.
1. Open iTunes and enter the Music Store.
2. Click on the button in the right corner. This should have your email address on it.
3. Type in your username and password and click OK.
4. Click Deauthorize all.
5. Click Deauthorize all computers.
Now you can reauthorize the computers you wish to use one by one by selecting Store and Authorize Computer.
