Want to use your data service on your HTC Droid Eris while roaming? You have to enable it, because by default the setting for data roaming is disabled.
1. From the Home screen, press Menu.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Wireless controls.
4. Tap Mobile network settings.
5. Check the Data roaming checkbox.
Careful with this setting though. You could incur some major charges if you’re in certain areas or your mobile plan is expensive when roaming.

When you’re done troubleshooting problems with your HTC Hero in Safe Mode, you will need to go through steps to boot it regularly and remove it from Safe Mode.
To do so, turn off the phone. Then while its off, hold the Menu and Power until the phone boots. The Hero should then no longer be in Safe Mode.

You can get people together with a conference call on your Android OS powered HTC Hero. Here’s how.
1. Establish a call to one person.
2. Press the Menu key.
3. Tap Add call.
4. Dial the number to the next caller.
5. Once connected, tap Merge (icon with 2 arrows meeting).
6. Add more callers by tapping the Phone (icon with a phone and plus sign).
Your wireless provider must support this feature for it to work by the way…

If you no longer want an application on your HTC Hero, you can uninstall it from the Android OS.
1. Press From the Home screen, press Menu.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Applications.
4. Tap Manage applications.
5. Tap the application you want to uninstall.

You can lock the screen of your HTC Hero screen with a draw pattern. Here’s where to set the feature in the Android software.
1. From the Home screen, press Menu.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Security.
4. Tap Set unlock pattern.
5. Read the info, then tap Next when ready.
6. See the pattern, then tap Next.
7. Draw the screen unlock pattern with your finger by connecting four or more dots in a row.
8. Tap Continue.
9. Draw the same pattern again.
10. Tap Confirm.

You can always use the Android Market to install applications on your HTC Hero with Android OS. But you can also install programs directly from the PC as well.
1. Go to Home > Menu > Settings > Applications and check Unknown sources to enable PC installation.
2. Run HTC Sync and connect the phone to the computer.
3. Select Application Installer.
4. Click Next.
5. Click Browse and select the file to install, then click Next.
6. Click Finish and you’re on your way.

If you need to make the dialing pause when placing a call on your Andoid powered HTC Hero smartphone, you can type a comma (,) to make this happen. The more commas in a row, the longer the pause. You can do the same thing when editing a Contact. Just add a comma in the phone number where you want the pause.

If a soft reset doesn’t solve problems with the HTC Imagio phone, you can perform a hard reset. This will wipe all data off the phone and restore factory default settings.
1. While the phone is off, press and hold Volume Down + Talk/Send + End/Power.
2. When the device displays a message about wiping the data, release all 3 buttons.
3. Press Volume Up to complete the hard reset.

If you’re headed into a place where you need your HTC Hero smartphone to keep quiet, you can quickly switch it to Silent Mode. Just press and hold the Power/End Call button for about 2 seconds. The option for Silent Mode will appear. Select it and you’re all set!

If you’d like to load up your HTC Hero with the factory default settings so that you can troubleshoot problems, you can start it up in Safe Mode.
1. Start with the device off, then turn it on.
2. Wait a couple of seconds after the screen goes on and start pressing and holding the Menu key.
3. Continue to hold the Menu key until the device starts completely. It should say Safe Mode in the left corner if you were successful.

When you’re done, you will want to take the HTC Hero out of Safe Mode.

1. Slide the application slider up and tap Settings.
2. Tap Security & location.
3. Tap Enable GPS satellites.

Keep in mind that this setting will cause the myTouch 3G to use more battery power.

Sometimes you just want to start over and format the SD Card on your myTouch 3G smart phone. The setting is difficult to find though. Here’s how to locate it.
1. Press Home.
2. Press Menu.
3. Tap Settings.
4. Scroll down and tap SD card & phone storage.
5. Tap Unmount SD card. This will enable the Format SD card option.
6. Tap Format SD card > Format SD card.
