Did you know that you can add your AOL Instant Messenger buddies in your Gmail Chat? You can, and here’s how.
1. In Gmail, click the Settings option in the upper right corner.
2. Click the Chat tab, and you will see the AIM options toward the bottom.

3. If this is your first time using this feature, click Sign into AIM link. You may also have an option to Change AIM settings.
4. Provide your AIM username and password and click Sign in.

5. Now you will have AIM buddies added to your Chat list. AIM buddies are displayed by the little AOL icon man.

Currently I cannot figure out a way to add AOL Instant Messenger to the separate GoogleTalk application. This should be planned in the future. If you know of a way, please share your solution in the Comments section below.

I am very much looking forward to the possibility of Microsoft taking over Yahoo. Maybe it will bring some well needed competition to Google. Microsoft can replace the Yahoo Search with their own Live Search technology, which I have to say, is pretty darn good. It still has a while to go before it can find things like Google can.
Perhaps Microsoft will take away the ridiculous charges that are rampant with Yahoo such as the charges to upgrade email, or view certain articles. I love nothing more than seeing a link on my My Yahoo page with a little $ next to it indicating that I cannot view the entire article unless I wish to pay for it. This is just one of the many examples of Yahoo trying to charge for stuff consumers know they can get free. What I often end up doing is searching for the article on Google and reading it for free.
I never thought I would welcome Microsoft to a new arena, but Yahoo needs to be saved. The services they offer have so much potential, it’s just the people running the company are clueless.

The tools available in Gmail by far trump the tools in any other web based email system. My problem is that I have been using Yahoo Mail for years. Friends and family will forever send to my Yahoo account as they have for the past 10 years. I recently decided though that Yahoo no longer has a place in my heart. I would officially migrate to Gmail. I was relieved to find that I could manage my Yahoo Mail through Gmail. Here’s how it’s done.
1. Login to Gmail and click on the Settings link in the upper right corner.
2. Click on the Accounts tab under the Settings area.
3. Here you can click to Add another mail account.
