Copy a contact to the SIM card of your BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone. This is a handy tip if anything accidental happens to your phone or you eventually switch phones. The contact will be saved to the SIM card and you’ll have your saved contacts on the new phone.
1. From the Home screen select Contacts.
2. Select the contact.
3. Highlight a phone number field that contains a phone number.

If you have a person you have to call often, create a Contact Shortcut icon for the person right on the Home screen of your Droid smartphone. Just follow these steps:
1. Tap and hold an open space on the Home screen.
2. Select Shortcut.

3. Choose Contact. (Use Direct dial if you want the icon to just dial the phone number directly.)

4. Select the Contact you wish to add to the Home screen.
5. The shortcut icon is created.

Assigning a contact photo will make the Blackberry Torch 9800 smartphone display a picture of the person whenever you’re sending them a text message or when they call you.
1. Open Contacts.
2. Tap the persons name.
3. Press Menu > Edit.
4. Tap the icon that looks like a person.

5. Select one of the following:
- Camera Pictures
- Picture Library
- Wallpaper
- Camera
6. Select the desired image or take a picture if you chose Camera.
The photo will then be assigned to that contact.

Set individual ringtones to each contact in your address book for when you receive SMS text message on your Motorola Droid X.
1. Download and install Handcent from the Android Market. It’s free.
2. Open Handcent, then open an existing conversation. If one doesn’t exist for the contact you wish to set a ringtone to, make one.
3. Tap the icon in the upper-right corner of the screen that looks like a person with a gear.
4. Select Notification sound.
5. Select the ringtone you would like to assign to that contact.
Other notable apps that allow you to assign SMS text message ringtones to specific contacts on the Droid X are Missed Call and ChompSMS.

Add a photo to a contact on your iPhone 4 smartphone. This will make a picture to appear when the person calls.
1. Select Camera and take a picture or select any photo already on iPhone and tap the photo frame icon with the arrow pointing right
2. Tap Assign to Contact.
3. Select a contact.
4. Drag the photo to position it, and pinch to zoom in or out.
5. Tap Set Photo when you’re done.

You may have duplicate contacts listed on your Droid X smart phone due to the syncing with your social networks. You can merge or link the contacts though so that all of the contact information is combined using these steps.
1. Open the Contacts app.
2. Select one of the entries for the contact you wish to merge.
3. Press Menu.
4. Select Link contact.
5. Tap the other entry.
The contact entries will then be joined together.

Sync up your Outlook Calendar and Contacts with your Sprint Evo 4G smartphone.
1. On the handheld, go to Home > Menu > Settings > Applications > Development and check USB debugging.
2. Attach the Evo to the computer using the USB cable.
3. Slide the notification panel down and tap Select to change USB connection type.
4. Tap Disk drive > Done.
5. Copy the HTCsync.exe file from the device to your computer.
6. Unmount the removable disk from the PC.
7. Run the HTCsync.exe file to install HTC Sync onto your PC.
8. Slide the notification panel down and tap Select to change USB connection type.
9. Tap HTC Sync > Done.
10. When your device finds HTC Sync, the computer will display the Phone Connection Wizard. Click Next.
11. Enter the name you want for your device, and then click Finish.
12. If the HTC Sync icon at the bottom-right side of your computer screen appears green in color, it means the Evo is recognized by the computer and sync application.
13. The Sync Manager runs in the task bar where you can click on it and click Synchronize Now whenever you want to transfer your Calendar and Contacts data.

With all of the importing and exporting of contact data from various systems, I have several copies of the same contacts on my Motorola Droid. Each have different information. Luckily, there is an option called Join where I can merge contacts together.
1. Open the Contacts app.
2. In the list, tap and hold the contact you wish to join.
3. Tap Edit contact.
4. Press the Menu button.
5. Tap Join.
6. Choose one of the suggested contacts or tap Show all contacts.
7. Tap the contact you wish to join with.

If you have an SD Card with your contacts in VCF format, you can import them to your HTC Droid Incredible.
1. Open the People app.
2. Press Menu.
3. Select Import/Export.
4. Tap Import from SD card.
5. Select the type if account to use if necessary.

So that person isn’t your favorite anymore? Remove the contact from your Kin 1 or 2 favorites list with these steps.
1. Navigate to the Favorites Home screen.
2. Tap the screen with two fingers.
3. Tap the X on the contact you want to remove from favorites.
4. To save your changes, tap the screen with two fingers again.
Alternately you can remove a Favorite contact from their contact card and going to More > Unfavorite.

You can backup your contacts to the HTC Droid Incredible SD Card by exporting them. This comes in handy if you ever need to migrate to another phone or import contacts into another application.
1. Open the People app.
2. Press Menu.
