Memory cleaning is designed to delete sensitive data from the temporary memory on your BlackBerry Bold 9000 series device such as the cache for the browser, unencrypted data from email messages, LDAP authentication passwords, and the clipboard (copy & paste). To enable this feature, follow these steps:
1. From the Home screen, go to Options.
2. Select Security Options.
3. Select Memory Cleaning.
4. Change Status to Enabled.
If you like, you can change Show Icon on Home Screen field to Yes and use the feature that way. This way , you’ll have a Memory Cleaner icon on your Home screen that will show you what data is being deleted.
5. Press Menu.
6. Select Save.

If your BlackBerry Bold 9000 series device is frozen or not responding, you will probably want to reset the unit. Here are the different types of resets that can be perfomed in the order they should be tried.
Soft Reset
Press ALT + RIGHT SHIFT(CAP) + DELETE.
Double-Soft Reset
Press ALT + RIGHT SHIFT(CAP) + DELETE . The screen will go blank for a few seconds. When the screen comes back on, immediately press ALT + RIGHT SHIFT(CAP) + DELETE again.
Hard Reset
If none of the above works, pull the battery out of the unit for a few seconds, then reinsert it.

Do the games or applications you use not have any sound when you user them on your BlackBerry smart phone? This happens with any of the models, the Pearl, Curve, Bold, etc. Try changing this setting to fix this problem:
1. Press Menu > Options.
2. Select Advanced.
3. Select Applications.
4. Select the program that you wish to enable sound for.
5. Press the Menu button.
6. Select Edit Permissions.
7. Set Interactions to Allow.
Test it out now. Your game or application should now have sound enabled.

Bedside Clock Mode turns your BlackBerry Bold into a clock that won’t interrupt you with calls or messages while you sleep.
Enable this mode by selecting Menu > Enable Bedside Mode in the Clock application.
To turn off bedside clock mode, press Escape.
You can access the settings for Bedside mode by selecting Menu > Options and changing settings under the Bedside Mode section.

Keep your BlackBerry Bold 9000 series device clean of old email messages. From time to time you may need to delete more than one email message at a time. Here’s how:
1. Highlight a message.
2. Hold down the Alt key.
3. Roll the trackball up or down to highlight multiple messages.
4. Release the Alt key.

You can also purge messages that are prior to a certain date.

2. Select Answer - Hold Current.

Are you annoyed by the Confirm delete prompt that appears when you delete messages, tasks and almost anything on your BlackBerry Bold 9000 series device? Here’s how to disable it.
1. In an application, press Menu.
2. Click Options.
3. Click General Options (may not be an option in some apps).
4. Change the Confirm Delete to No.
5. Press Menu.

Location aiding is enabled by default on your Blackberry Bold 9000 series device to enhance the GPS functionality. The only problem is that it will contact the network periodically and cost you money toward your data service charges. You can disable this feature with the following steps:
