If you are deleting multiple items on your BlackBerry Storm 9500 series smartphone, it can get irritating when you have to confirm the deletion on every single item. Here’s how to disable the Confirm Delete prompt.

1. Open an application.

2. Press Menu.

3. Select Options.

4. Select General Options.

5. Change the Confirm Delete to No.

6. Press Menu.

7. Select Save.

Now you will no longer be prompted to delete the item.

I had a problem in Windows XP where I would double-click any folder and it would open the Search box instead. Luckily the fix was easy.

1. Hold down the Windows key and press R or click Start > Run.

2. Type regsvr32 shell32.dll and click OK.

You should get a dialog that the file was registered sucessfully. Now try to open any folder. Hopefully it will have opened the folder instead of Search.

When you try to open any of the drives on your PC, instead of opening it so that you can see the files, it opens an Open With box instead.

Try the following to fix this issue:

1. Right-click on the problematic drive and select Explore. This should open the drive.

2. Look for anything related to AUTORUN on it. Like an autorun.inf file. (You may need to Show All Hidden and System Files on the drive in order to see everything.)

3. Delete any autorun.inf or autorun related files on the drive.

Alternately you may download and run Flash Disinfector. This application will remove the autorun junk that a virus usually leaves behind.

I had a strange problem with my computer, and I’m not sure how it got this way. Before I logged into Windows, I couldn’t right-click on any dialog buttons. Everything was switched around and I had to use the left mouse button instead on prompts to reset my password or when the login failed and I had to try again. I could right-click just fine though once I logged into the system.

I checked my Control Panel, and everything was setup normally. It turns out there is a setting in the registry that controls the swapping of the mouse buttons prior to login.

1. XP: Click Start > Run and type regedit.
Vista: Click Start, type regedit and open the Registry Editor.

2. Navigate to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Mouse and set SwapMouseButtons

Alternately, you can download and run the swapmouse.reg file to import these settings.

Also note, there is a separate registry entry for swapping the mouse buttons per user. That setting would be triggered after the login process.

When you open a file in Windows XP that has a corrupted video, image files, HTML pages, or MP3 file, Windows Explorer crashes.

You will need to somehow access this folder so that you can delete the offensive file. You will need to unregister 2 DLL’s to prevent the Windows from previewing the file, which is what is actually causing Windows Explorer to crash.

1. Click Start > Run and type regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll and click OK.

2. Click Start > Run and type regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll and click OK.

3. Delete the file that is corrupted.

4. Click Start > Run and type regsvr32 shimgvw.dll and click OK.

5. Click Start > Run and type regsvr32 shmedia.dll and click OK.

I had a problem where a window would appear with a folder that said iPod_Control whenever I attached my iPod or put music on it using iTunes. The window would disappear after about 5 seconds.

Window to iPod drive

For some reason, my iPod was detected by Windows as a USB Mass Storage Device. I noticed that there were 2 of these listed in my Device Manager. One of them seemed to indicate a problem with a little yellow icon. After removing both of these Mass Storage Devices, I then restarted my computer. The problem was then solved.

Here is a step by step process on how I did this.

When you start Max OS X Leopard, the Setup Assistant appears. After filling it out and clicking Done, it still remains on your screen and won’t go away. Attempts to Force Quit the application doesn’t work either.

To solve this issue, you will need to restart your Mac in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift key while it starts.  Once you are in under Safe Mode, go to the Setup Assistant menu and quit.

Restart the computer and it shouldn’t bother you anymore.

It looks like there are a bunch of iPod Touch users that keep getting a screen prompting them for a January Upgrade. When clicking on No Thanks or Remind me later they get an error:

4. Start iTunes.

5. When prompted with the message, click Remind me later or No Thanks, then OK then quickly click the X button at the top to stop loading iTunes shop.

6. Close iTunes and reconnect to the Internet.

Block Flash Ads in Firefox

I had a big problems with Flash ads locking up my computer. The ads have become increasingly intrusive and annoying. They pop up, cover what your reading and at times, you can’t get rid of them. I found a hack that prevents flash movies from loading unless you tell them play. It provides a nice Click to play option on the areas of the screen displaying Flash content in Firefox. It works on most Flash movies. Here’s how you add it.

1. Find your Firefox profile folder, located at C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\randomvalue\chrome

If you are using a different skin other than chrome, replace chrome with the name of the skin you are using.

iTunes Annoyance

Dear Apple,

I was using iTunes today and found a song by Enrique Iglesias. Oh how I wanted to hear his lyrical mastery in the song Don’t Turn Out the Lights. However when I double-clicked the song, the classic exclamation mark appeared to tell me the song has somehow disappeared. My heart was so broken. I was so ready to lip sync to the song in my whitey tighties.

To prevent this from happening again, I have searched high and low for a solution to rid myself of songs that do not exist on my hard drive anymore, but still appear on my iTunes library list. This doesn’t appear to be a feature of your software at all.

When you find the time, do you think you can add a Rebuild Music Index feature or an option to remove songs that don’t exist into your software or something? Otherwise I will be forever cursed with having over 500 songs listed in iTunes that don’t exist because there is no way to sort them and delete them all at once.

iTunes Exclamation Mark

Sincerely,

Mitch

P.S. I chose to provide you a photo of my screen instead of me in my whitey tighties as I had intended. Let me know if you would like to see that instead.
