If you install a third-party application on your BlackBerry Tour that crashes it, you might need to start the devide in Safe Mode. This will disable anything additional you have installed so that you can access the screen to troubleshoot or remove the offending app.

To boot up your BlackBerry Tour in Safe Mode, perform the following steps:

1. Take the battery out of the device.

2. Place the battery back in the device.

3. While restarting, press and hold the Escape key (the one with the arrow).

4. A screen will appear telling you that you are in Safe Mode. Select OK and troubleshoot the issue.
