Samsung Galaxy Tab: Transfer iTunes Music From Computer

You can transfer iTunes music files directly from the iTunes application to the Samsung Galaxy Tab. However, you may run into a problem with some music files that were purchased years ago as they are DRM protected. Here’s how you can handle this situation.

1. From the Home screen, select Menu located below the display screen.

2. Tap Settings.

3. Tap Wireless & networks.

4. Select the Mass storage option.

5. Connect the Galaxy Tab to the computer with the included USB cable.

6. Slide down the notification panel at the top of the screen.

7. Tap USB connected.

8. Tap Mount.

9. On the computer, open the drive that represents your device. It should be in My Computer/Computer for Windows users or the Finder for Mac users.

10. Make a folder named Music (not required but recommended for organizational purposes.)

11. Open iTunes.

12. From the Music Library screen, right-click any of the top columns, and check Kind. This will enable a column where you will be able to tell which music files are protected and which ones can be copied to your Galaxy Tab.

iTunes Kind selection

13. Use the Kind field to sort your music by clicking it. If a track shows as a Protected AAC Audio file, the you will not be able to play it on the Galaxy Tab. Anything else can be copied over and used. If you have protected music that you wish to copy and play on the device, you can go to the iTunes Store, and click iTunes Plus to remove the protection from the files for a fee. There are also other ways to remove DRM but they can be more complex.

14. Drag and drop music directly from the iTunes window to the Music folder you made on the Galaxy Tab removable disk.

15. Once the music files are transferred, eject the drive properly from your computer and you’re ready to play them.
