How to soft reset and hard reset your iPod Touch if it’s frozen or not responding.
Try a soft reset first:
1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of the unit until a red slider appears
2. Drag the slider.
3. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If a soft reset doesn’t work, try a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for about ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

before, everytime i tried to start my ipod it would say ipod disabled, connect to itunes, so i went to itunes and it wold say my ipod has its passcode on, go back to ipod and type in passcode or sumthing like that, so it was just telling me to go back and forth and i was like FTW!!, so i tried everything from dowloading the newer itunes and deleted it and restarting my laptop 54692746976529 freakin’ times :@, so i finally gave up for ten minutes and was so pissy i went outside and starting chopping trees, and im all against that so you could imagine i was pretty pissed, so i finally searched google and w.e and found this and read through comments and tomtom IFLY!!
i did what Felix typed.
& surprisingly it worked =)
but it deletes all your songs,pictures, videos…
i’m not complaining though.

You got to do the next it happened 2 me .
1: go to tunes
2:pluh ur ipod touch
3:press the top and bottom button at the same time for like 13 secconds.
3:once the apple logo gomes on twice on ur ipod screen let go and only press the botton button like for 10 seconds again the the new logo on the ipod screen will com on this logo is the same ass wen u bought the ipod
4: the itune will ask you to restore the ipod to the original set up and the wait for the download it takes about 30 to 20 min.
u got to do the next
1: go to tunes
2:pluh ur ipod touch
3:press the top and bottom button at the same time for like 13 secconds .

i have the same problem…i disabled my ipod cuz i kept trying to put my password and it got disabled:(….hhow do i reset it….help me plzzzzzzz…but i dunt want to get my songs deleted…..what do i do someone helppp meee….

ok well i am in progress of reformating the ipod touch and by listening to others i have acheived where am. and if others dont kno what to do..here it is. conect to itunes
press sleep and home at the same time
hold till it shuts off, but do not let go of the buttons.
the ipod should turn back on while the buttons r still held
when this happens, only let go of the sleep button on the top
keep the home held in till the ipod shows the itunes lodo plus usb cord.
this is as far as i have gotten right now. im downlaoding the update fior it to see if it reaaly work.
what do i do if i forgot my password for my ipod touch 8mg and it want let me get in
i plug my ipod into the computer and it still gives me the signal to plug it into itunes, but it says its charging which means it recognises the computer. so i reset the ipod again and it still has the signal telling me to put it into itunes.
and the screen does not change so i enter my passcode so it says on my computer..

tunes could not to the iPod ‘iPod’ because it is locked with a passcode. you must enter your passcode on the ipod before it can be used with Itunes.

how do u reset ur ipod touch if u dont know the password… it just says it is disabled.. and we called the apple guy and we know how to get to reset it but it just says “you do not have enough access privileges for this operation” email me asap please.
I bought a ipod touch off of E Bay and it has a passcode on it and i have tried all the above and it does not work can anyone help
