Blocking specific email addresses and domains are essential to controlling the amount of junk mail you get in Microsoft Outlook 2010 or 2007. You can add email addresses and domains to the block list by using the following steps:

1. Outlook 2010 users select the Home tab, select Junk > Junk E-mail Options. Outlook 2007 users select Tools > Options > Preferences > E-mail > Junk E-mail.

3. Click the Blocked Senders tab.

4. Click Add.

5. In the Enter an e-mail address or Internet domain name to be added to the list box, enter the name or address that you want to add. You can add entire domains or just an email address as follows:

  • username@domain.com
  • @domain.com
  • domain.com

6. Click OK when you are done.

You can also block all .info senders by adding typing “.info” (without the quotes). Same goes for .us, .com, .gov, .etc. I haven’t exactly proven this, but just by adding .info and .us I got my company email from about 50-75 spams a morning to 4-6.

Can you use special characters to block say @a.*.com? So anything with a. in the domain gets blocked?

Hi Mitch, in regards to the blocking of an email address I have followed your directions and still the emails keep on coming through all with the same email addresses that I thought that I had blocked. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

I use eFax for my business. I was receiving an eFax from a lender in LA that I was tired of receiving multiple times throughout a give day, so I “Blocked Sender”. I am now in a time crunch and cannot receive any document I send from my fax number. I have checked with eFax, very poor support I might add, to see if blocking a specific email has caused my problem. No response. I will now look for a new service as I need a working system. Going to Kinkos is not an option. Do you have any suggestions? Is it possible to Unblock something? I did not block my own eFax number. Thank you for your assistance in solving this problem.

Skip the blocked sender stuff and go right to create rule function.DO NOT waste your time by opening the message. This procedure is designed for closed message.
1. Right click on the e-mail address of the unwanted e-mail. A pop up menu will appear. (This can be done at the main menu, but it is more difficult.)
2. Click on “Create Rule; another menu appears, it will give you provide any options you desire to move or remove e-mails.
3. As you get comfortable, us the advanced features for more control.
