Outlook 2007: Block Email Addresses and Domains
Posted by Mitch on Apr 15, 2008 under Office Tips | 5 CommentsBlocking specific email addresses and domains are essential to controlling the amount of junk mail you get in Outlook 2007. You can add email addresses and domains to the block list by using the following steps:
1. Click Tools > Options.
2. On the Preferences tab, under E-mail, click Junk E-mail.
3. Click the Blocked Senders tab.
4. Click Add.
5. In the Enter an e-mail address or Internet domain name to be added to the list box, enter the name or address that you want to add. You can add entire domains or just an email address as follows:
- username@domain.com
- @domain.com
- domain.com
6. Click OK when you are done.
It’s for 2003 but worth a shot.
How can I delete messages from the same sender that I do not wish to see?
Resolution
In Outlook 2003, right-click on the message and choose “Create Rule”
In the dialogue box that opens up, check the From box if you wish to block messages from a certain sender.
Note, many spammers will change their email address often, so this will only work for messages which always arrive from the same sender’s email address.
Click OK and any messages from that sender will be automatically moved to the Deleted Items folder.
Is there any way to completely block an email from coming in through Outlook 07? I don’t even want certain emails coming into my junk mail folder. I added one in particular to my “blocked sender” list, but he still gets in through my junk mail folder. I want his harrassment to cease. Thank you.
Yes, a good idea. But this way, it well be in the junk e-mail folder. It still will have to be manually deleted.
I have ouklook 2007 and all of my e-mails are sent to the blocked senders list. I have changed my settings to low automatic settings and email’s still go the blocked senders list. I have to creative rule to have the sender go to my inbox.
Is there a way to block e-mail from domains that constantly change most characters in the domain name, but consistently use a recognizable naming convention that could be blocked with wild cards (don’t know if this is correct terminology).
Example. I get many, many emails from a domain that always has h3 in the domain name…
real examples:
rich@h3kotoinazuma.net
biyung-uk@h3kbuzim.net
kester@h3kemasa.net
Is there a way in Outlook to block a domain using protocols like what used to be used in DOS commands?
I am thinking there is a way to Use a command like “block *@*h3*.net”.
It would be interpreted as “block e-mail from any address that has “any name” on the left of “@” that also has anything that includes “h3″ in the domain name.
This would block a lot of SPAM for me.
Thanks,
