While attempting to download SimCity through Origin, I was greeted with an error message whenever the download got to 19% that said “An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again in a few moments. Error: 262145:5“.
To try to solve this problem, I canceled the download, then restarted it. The error appeared again. Looks like it will take a lot more work to get past this problem.
I then took the following steps to fix this issue.
1. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games.
2. Rename the folder for your game by putting a “.old” extension at the end of it.
3. Now try to download your game again.
A new folder should be created for your game, and the download should resume as normal.
