Motorola Xoom: Remove Icon From Home Screen

If the Home screen of your Motorola XOOM is a bit cluttered with widgets and icons, you can remove them using these steps.

1. Swipe over to the Home screen that has the icon you wish to remove.

2. Tap and hold your finger on the icon. A trash can will appear on the upper-right part of the screen.

3. While still holding the icon, drag it to the trash.

XOOM remove icon

I just tried the instructions above and no trash can appeared. I pressed and held the unwanted icon again and found a very faint “X Remove” area near the top center of the Xoom. As I dragged the unwanted icon to the “X Remove” area, the unwanted icons turned red and were deleted.

    Try it.

CAUTION: This will also remove the program from the XOOM, unless the icon is just a Shortcut.

I have not yet found a way to remove the icon from the Home Page and not delete the application (for such times when I have the app stored in a folder). It seems to take it out of both at the same time when I move the app to the Trash. Does anyone know a way to take the icon off the Home Page, but not from the XOOM?
